how to hook up directv stream device to my surface book computer
I have a microsoft surface book computer running either windows 10 or 11 that I stream Directv on. The computer only has usb ports.
1) How do I hook up the Directv stream device so I can record Directv shows from my computer to the Directv streaming device?

That's not how it works. It's not possible to record shows from your PC to the DirecTV Stream box. The DirecTV box uses its own connection to the internet for streaming channels. Your PC uses its internet connection to stream via the DirecTV Stream website.
What exactly are you trying to do?

You do NOT need the DirecTV Stream Device if you're using a computer. You just go to stream.directv.com and there you can watch anything live, record anything to your cloud DVR and watch anything already recorded to your cloud DVR.
If you have the DirecTV Stream Device connected to a TV, you have the exact same options.
With Cloud DVR, you can watch your recorded shows on any device.
