How many Directv Stream devices (the dedicated boxes) can I register to my account?

I have more than 6 televisions.  I see ambiguous statements in the online documentation about a limit of 6 devices (the dedicated Directv Stream boxes, not include Fire Sticks or other streaming devices) either PER ORDER, or maybe, PER ACCOUNT.  I would like to know if I can register more than 6 such devices to my account so that each television can have a dedicated device.

To further clarify my question, I am NOT seeking information on the number of simultaneously streaming devices.  I just want to put a Directv Stream box at each television so that when I use that room, I can stream on the tv using the exact same type of remote control as in all of the other rooms.

Hi @CommunityMember781, that's a good question, and you came to the right place to clear things up.

In a single order you can add up to 6 DIRECTV STREAM devices, but you can have up to 20 devices per account (Since that is the maximum amount of streams allowed in-home). Basically, you can create multiple orders until you reach the 20 limit.

Since you want to connect several devices, we recommend that each stream gets at least 8 mbp/s to have an optimal viewing experience, along with a static IP address to avoid issues when setting up the main network.

About the DIRECTV STREAM device remote control, please keep in mind it can only be paired to one device at a time.

Please let us know if you have further questions, will be here to help.

I love the idea of having the same type of remote control for all the tvs! Can you tell me how to get the 5 additional DIRECTV STREAM devices and how much they cost?

Interesting comment about static IP addresses.  Does anyone know how that improves performance?  And, if so, how to set one up?  Thanks.

Also, as to techinept's comment, the boxes are $49 refurbished on the Directv Stream website.

I'm guessing that they were suggesting getting a static IP from the ISP. It isn't a performance issue, but rather some ISPs change the IP address frequently which messes up the identification of the home network.

I have a similar question. I came across a few directv stream devices at a goodwill, and purchased them there today, and i was wondering if i add them to the account, will we be charged for those devices?

No. But it's unlikely that you'll be able to activate them. Used DirecTV Stream boxes from places like eBay or Goodwill were likely never properly deactivated, or may be too old to be updated with current software. Give it a try and let us know.

It updated from the original AT&T TV Software to the DirecTV Stream software, so it updated from the software from when DTV stream was known as AT&T TV

I was able to sign in successfully and its currently asking where the device will be used.
