Home Location Setting

Anyone else having problems with their location setting. Every few months my home location setting gets knocked off so I have to set new home location so I can watch TV. have only 4 resets a year. Already had Directv reset it months back and took several days to do which is a joke. Came home last night and had to reset it again now I'm on my last one. Thanks

Sounds like your ISP is changing your IP location to fill open ports on their side. Have you discussed with your ISP your issue? DirecTV Stream does not change your location. They only use what is being reported for location services.

I have the same issue.  The problem is that AT&T is relying on your IP address to not change which is ridiculous since ISPs change your address whenever they want to.  Check your router settings and see if the Internet (or WAN) is set for dynamic addressing.  Many, if not most, are set up this way.

You would have to set static addressing with your ISP so it doesn't change.  If your ISP provides this, it's probably an extra charge.

Luckily, I never need more than three devices accessing DirecTV Stream at one time or else this would bite me in the butt.

Use a streaming device that does not have location services, like a Roku or Fire Stick. By default, locals are based on your home ISP when you get the device up. The "home location" is only used by the DirecTV Streaming box. I travel all the time and receive my home based locals everywhere. Currently, 2 states away from my home base and receiving my home based locals with a Fire Stick.

Hello, @bakers12 We always want to protect our customers and provide them with a safe access to their accounts. Our customers have a limited number of opportunities to change their home location, which is 4 changes within a 12-month period.

Let's meet in a Direct Message to take a closer look on this. Please check your DIRECTV Message Inbox (It's the chat icon next to the bell icon in the upper right corner of the Forums)

I really don't understand where you want me to go, I don't see a chat icon or a way to Direct message you about my problem

There is a "chat now" link at the bottom of that page he referred to. Make sure you have ad/popup blockers off.

I went to this link, logged in and started a chat with a tech who could not help me. How do I get in contact with someone that can resolve this?

They do have Twitter and Facebook accounts. You can try that there. Also the phone support line.

Here is the issue, the tech needs to be able to reset the Change limit so I can set my home location, or someone I can contact to reset it since it is possible. Who is the department that can do this before I cancel this?

You will need to contact a support rep either by chat, phone, or social media. This is just an open community forum of users and subscribers.

Your home network issue is not a DirecTV Stream issue, but an ISP issue. Your ISP appears to be changing your IP randomly, causing the service to think you are not at your home location. You need to get a static IP address from your ISP or change services. There are 100's of posts on his issue in the forum. You should search and read up on the issue.

I know the issue is the IP is changing, that's not the point. I have no control over the IP address as it is DHCP and could change if I lose power and my router reboots, I may get another IP address then. I have no problem calling Directv to get the limit reset, the issue is they can't reset it so I can set the home location. You are right that so many post are being logged about this because this is a serious problem for us. This is unacceptable that it cannot be reset if I have a legitimate reason for it be. I was not told this could an issue when I signed up and cancelled my satellite service. Why is there someone in this thread saying to contact them to resolve this if they are not able to?
