Genie Air Have to Reset Every 2 Days

On multiple TVs, We have to reset the attached Genie Airs after two days.   When turning the TV/GP on via the remote, the screen comes up the DirectTv shade of blue, indicating that the HDMI interface is working fine and it’s the GP that isn’t transmitting the correct data.

The devices are only a month old.

What do you mean by “DIRECTV shades of blue?” Can you elaborate? And you stated that it happens on multiple TVs? This definitely isn’t normal behavior, and you shouldn’t need to reset the Gemini Air boxes that often. A reset here and there every few months is acceptable, but a reset every 2 days suggests something is wrong with your Wi-Fi setup or HDMI cables being used (if the same ones are used for all TVs).

Its the same shade of blue that the Gemini Air uses for the screen backgrounds indicating the the GA is sending a signal to the TV.  Not sure why you're mentioning HDMI cables as the GA has an HDMI cable attached.

Even tried disconnecting the GA from the TV and reconnecting to reinitialize the interface to no avail.

The only fault remaining would be an unstable Wi-Fi network. But, it would be helpful if you would attach a picture of this background so I understand it better.

The WiFi network isn't unstable - it's solid.   When this first happened, that's what I suspected.  Had the issue on one TV and the other two were fine.

@BDoggy   I know this will be a pain in the butt, but try doing a reset of your modem/router by doing this it will make sure you are not having any connectivity issues even though you are not experiencing it on any other devices.  Then do a factory reset on at least 1 of your Gemini Airs to do this you can go through settings. Hopefully, this will help with this issue. If this works then factory reset all your Airs.

Try resetting your Modem/Router.  I know that you say you are not having connectivity issues but give it a try.  Also, try checking your internet speed as every device that you connect to your wifi uses Bandwith, and the more Bandwith that is used the slower your internet speed will be to your devices.  Also, try doing a factory reset on at least one of your Gemini Airs to see if that will help solve your blue screen issue and having to reboot it every 2 days.  You can do a factory reset from settings or hold the button on the air until it says either resetting or rebooting I cannot remember which it says but it will take a few minutes at most for this message to appear at that point release the button and go through the device setup again.  If this does not solve it then this issue will be on Directvs end and you will need to contact customer service about this.  I hope this helps!

Same issue here (among others). 25 years as a network engineer, I can guarantee it's not my network. We have to reset most often when opening previously opened apps. Much like a caching issue where the GA has nothing programmed to "close" an app after use which then requires a restart. Everyday, more than once a day with seven GAs in the house. You can almost hear the frustrated screams from the rooms around the house, can't you?

I won't call it "junk" since I can watch DirecTV most of the time which is the primary app on this Chromecast device but I will say that it's not the most well-crafted product I've used. Definitely no posters around the engineering office with a credo like "It should just work, period."

I know I’ll need to do a hard reset when the LEDs on the remote slowly pulse blue. And this has happened when watching a single network channel for hours. There were no power glitches or internet dropouts. Have two Gemini Air devices for about two months and need to do the hard reset process on both about every three weeks. Very frustrating!

Brand new GA, having same problem. Occurs almost every morning at first use. Thanks for the suggestions. Will try rebooting network and see if it helps.

I was having to reset my Gemini Air every day until I changed the TV resolution from 1080p to 1080i. I don't know why, but have not had to reset for several months now.

To fix having to frequently re-pair your Gemini Air remote, do the following:

- Restart your Gemini Air “box” via the Settings/System/Device Preferences/Restart option. This seems to do more than pressing the restart button on the “box”.

- While the restart is in progress, unpair the remote by pressing and holding the - and Apps buttons until the two blue leds blink twice

- After the restart completes, pair the remote by pressing and holding the << and >> buttons until the two blue leds blink twice

This procedure cured my remote unpairing issue. I hope that it fixes yours!
