Ok to skip ahead 30 seconds press the right-directional button next to the ok button, to skip back 15 seconds press the left-directional button. Hopefully, this will work for you.
Have you tried rebooting the Air you can do this 2 ways 1) You can press the button on the Air itself or 2) go through settings and reset it. This should help get that working again.

I unplugged for 30 sec. restarted and reset to factory settings. Still no skip just fast foreword ?
