Gemini Air Incompatible with Sony Bravia TV
I have to give Direct TV credit. They replaced my Gemini Air streaming device twice when I complained it would cause my Sony Bravia TV to reboot if I used the on/off button on the Direct TV remote. But that did not solve the problem. I gave up on calling in with the problem since replacing it did not solve the issue. I think there is a system issue with the Gemini Air.
They need to fix a software issue. Here is the workaround I found, but it also has an issue.
Here is the workaround.
NEVER, EVER turn off your Sony TV using the Direct TV remote. This turns off the Gemini Air device as well. If you then turn on the Sony TV with the Direct TV remote, it flashes to the last channel viewed, stays on for about 30 seconds, and then causes the TV to reboot.
Turn the TV on/off using the Sony remote. Everything is perfect if the Gemini device is on (white light). When the Sony remote turns the TV back on, it goes back to your last channel on Direct TV (be sure you have the Sony TV to turn on to the previously viewed source).
That worked for a long time. But now, the Gemini device turns itself off after 24-48 hours or so. No choice but to allow it to reboot the Sony TV. But, at least the workaround will then work while the Gemini device is "alive."
Now, the issue is that the device's system settings no longer allow you to tell the device to stay on constantly.
Direct TV - please fix this. Either return the system setting to tell the Gemini device to stay on, or solve the issue with Sony.
Thanks

The Sony Bravia TV reboots when it's turned on with the Gemini remote. One cannot prevent the Gemini remote from syncing with the TV during Gemini setup, as the setup won't continue unless the syncing is complete.
Solution: But one can turn the sync off from the TV end.
What to do: On the TV,
1. Go into Settings -- External Inputs -- Bravia Sync Settings
2. Turn off Bravia Sync Control (This also turns off the other two switches.).
Result: The TV won't reboot now.
Drawback: The two remotes are now completely unsynced so one need to operate the TV and Gemini with their respective remote.
