Gemini Air Connectivity and Buffering

I have two gemini air devices and have an intermittent problem with low connectivity and buffering.

The picture will become grainy and pixillated and then start buffering.  Sometimes it resets.  Sometimes we have to reboot.  We called DirecTV and got a hard re-set but the intermittent problem continues.

I have no problem getting access to DirecTV streaming via a FireTV dongle, but using the dongle won't allow me to access recordings in my DirecTV account, so that is not a perfect solution.

Has anyone else experienced this problem with GeminiAir and do you know of any fixes?

Hi @jwilson123. We understand that intermittent issues are not ideal. Internet connections greatly impact the connectivity and buffering problem. We recommend the Internet 100 Mbps plan or higher for watching up to 10 streams. Visit Get help with your DIRECTV box or remote | DIRECTV Support to learn how to troubleshoot Gemini Air. Let us know if this helps. Joan, DIRECTV Community Specialist

It’s not a wifi problem.  Just installed new routers and I have 1G connectivity to the TV.   Directv is sending me a replacement so we will see if that works

Good to know that you have a high-speed internet service. Let us know how the replacement goes. Elton, DIRECTV Community Specialist

It seems like you're experiencing connectivity and buffering issues specifically with your Gemini Air devices when accessing DirecTV streaming and recordings. Here are some steps and considerations to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:
1. Check Network Stability and Speed
2. Update Firmware and Apps
3. Restart and Reset Gemini Air Devices
4. Check for Interference and Placement
5. Contact Gemini Air Support
6. Consider Alternative Streaming Solutions

Please read more carefully.  I already checked wifi and that's not the problem.  I already rebooted several times and that is not the problem.  I contacted Gemini Air Support and then are sending me a new device.

I have had similar issues with my Gemini Air device.  What worked for me was resetting both Gemini and modem/router at the same time to get better connectivity.  Also, my next question is how far away from your modem/router is your device and is there a lot of obstructions between them? Even though you have another device that is able to stream with no problem, the Gemini Device has a hard time at least in some situations keeping a consistent signal.  I know this to be true because I have had this happen to my Gemini device while my Roku Device had no problems. I would recommend resetting all of your devices if that does not work to get a WiFi extender to overcome your connectivity issues.
