Digital Audio failure?
My DirecTV Stream box has developed a communication problem with my Smart TV and I'm trying to determine if the problem is in my TV or the DirecTV Box that I use to connect to my TV & view programs/recordings.
One morning before I turned on the TV I noticed the screen appeared to be somewhat opaque; when I attempted to turn it on via the set top box the power light illuminated but nothing happened. Then I noticed a red light glowing from the back side of the box. The only light visible lights were the power light and the red glow form inside the box where it said "Digital Audio. So is it my TV or the DirecTV equipment??

No idea. You should contact support and discuss with a support rep. If defective, they will authorize a replacement.

The "red glow" is normal. That's the optical digital audio signal.
Have you tried resetting the DirecTV Stream box? Just pull its power cord for a minute and then repower. You might want to do the same with the TV. And verify that the HDMI cable is snug at both ends.

This must be a different "glow" as it only appeared when I turned on the set first thing in the morning; the power light was on but nothing came on the TV. I've done extensive testing of the 4 HDMIs I have connected and the only one that doesn't operate properly is #2 where the DirecTV box is plugged in. I changed batteries as needed in controls and tightened connections but now the DirecTV remote control will not turn on the TV nor will the box power on. Screen just displays "No Signal" HDMI 2. There are no lights @ all on the box now.

What happens if you plug the DirecTV box into a different HDMI port on your TV?
It's sounding like your DirecTV box died.

Actually, I have changed my input to hdmi 3 (have Roku there) and accessed the DirecTV app via Roku. I started viewing one of my recorded programs this way and after maybe 10 minutes the picture started cutting out, then the screen went/stayed dark and "No Signal" "HDMI3" displayed on the dark screen. Now I have two HDMI giving no signal. Can something have actually happened to my TV, rather than the DirecTV box? Thanks!

Can you try that Roku on a different TV?
It's sure sounding like a TV issue if this happens with both the Roku and your DirecTV Stream box.

To complicate matters, I took the DirecTV box to the other tv and at first it started - power light and DirecTV light; \bit the remote is no longer paired(I guess) so couldn't communicate. Then the box shut down and the screen showed "no signal" for that HDMI.
I can try the Roku on another tv - but will have to remove the one I have installed there already. Maybe tomorrow. Thanks.
