Device will not recognize correct password
I have changed WiFi providers and when I try to sign into the account it sees my network name but it won’t accept my password even though it’s the correct password. I’ve tried every type of reset I can think of but it’s the second day and it still won’t let me log in.

We'd be happy to help you get signed in to your device, @njgould59.
We just need more information so we can get started:
If you haven't done so yet, try changing your Wi-Fi password to see if you can get signed in.
We'll be awaiting your response.

Neither. I had ATT-TV (now DirecTV Stream) in Nashville, TN and moved to Prescott, AZ (86301) in July, 2021. The early cancellation fee would have been expensive but the AT&T rep told me I could continue to use my streaming box anywhere so that’s what I’ve been doing. I used it at one address here in AZ on Sparklight internet and moved on 10/1 to a new address in Prescott where I have a new Sparklight internet account and network name. The streaming device recognizes the network name but won’t accept the password. I don’t want to change the password because every other device in my home is using it and if the streaming device won’t accept one correct password it probably won’t accept a different correct password. If DirecTV Stream is available in 86301 I’d be happy to move my service here but that wasn’t an option when I moved in July.

Hi @njgould59, thanks for reaching us.
We understand that you would prefer not to change your password, we need to try everything that is on our hands to fix the issue. In order to discard options please try changing your password and let us know how it goes. You can also try to reset the streaming box by pressing and release the red button on the side, and unplug the device for at least 30 seconds.
We hope this helps!

I did the reset/power off and I reset the password and neither of those worked. It connects with the Ethernet cable but nothing works to connect the wireless.

We appreciate the process you did before! Let's also try to make a hard reset of the equipment.
The remote control might lose connection and unable to reconnect automatically when any button is pressed, use these steps to pair your remote control.

I wanted so much for the hard reset to work but it did not. Now what? I will try teetertotter’s recommended phone number tomorrow. I’m not willing to make any changes to Sparklight’s modem to try and fix a DirecTV device’s issue but there must be some solution yet to be uncovered.

njgould59, did you resolve your problem? I switched to a new Network name and password, I sign on my computer, laptop and phone but my AT&T box will not accept my password. I have been on the phone most of the day being walked through resetting my box, manually entering my network and password....nothing!! I have such a headache dealing with this all day. Please let me know if you figured it out.

If everything else fails, you could try using a wifi extender. These are rather cheap at about $25. Try to find one that has both 2.4 and 5 GHz output. Connect this extender to your home-wifi and then connect the DirecTV Stream box to the extender, either 2.4 or 5 GHz band (usually 5 GHz is better). P.S. these extenders often also allow a direct LAN cable connection, which is a better solution.
Sometimes weird things happen with wifi.
In my case for instance, all of my devices can connect to my home-wifi's 5GHz network, except for only 1 device. This same device connects "perfectly" to the 2.4 GHz band on the same home-wifi.
One more thing, Wifi uses different channels which move the frequency just a bit to prevent problems with neighbors wifi. Could be that your home-wifi is on a band channel the TV box isn't well compatible with. If you can get into your home-wifi router, try choosing another channel.

Kswantee, No, my problem is not resolved. I just moved into this house and there are so many things to do and my frustration with DirecTV not taking responsibility for their own device’s problem is one I hate spending time on. I won’t give up, though.

bno25ab, I’ll look into a WiFi extender and the other things as possible solutions. For right now I’m connecting my device directly by Ethernet cable which is annoying as (Edited per community guidelines) but at least I can watch TV. Moving into a new house comes with a mile-long list of things that need attention and I fuss with this problem when I have time. Maybe I need to hire someone who knows the kind of stuff you know to tweak stuff for me.

Personally, I prefer using an ethernet cable.

Hey there, @njgould59 Thank you for all the information.
Let's try to reset the home network, by changing the name and password of it. This might help to refresh all of the devices and network configuration. Then, please try to set up your DIRECTV Stream box once again.
Please let us know how it goes.

I’ve been on the phone for hours with several different representatives. ATT does not have a clue of how to solve this issue. I switched from att DIRECTV to direct stream. We tried all of the resets and was sent new receivers. I’m on a 72 hr wait at this point for att to resolve this issue.

Are you using the same credentials for DirecTV Stream as you had with DirecTV Satellite? If so, you need to use different credentials. Known issue for years. Reported many times in these forums.
