Confused about streaming away from home network

Based on subscription, you are allowed 20 streams at home and 3 streams away from home. All the details are available on the website.

You can use Directv Stream app anywhere in the USA except PR.

Well that info I posted sure doesn't sound like it. It is very confusing and I was wanting clarification.

Then explain why that statement says any other device is limited to your home network only. That has got to be one of the most confusing statements ever.

Never says "only". Besides the quote is only referring to your home network not when traveling. Look up access when traveling.

Once the DIRECTV Stream Device is activated, it becomes the Wi-Fi home network, for that reason no other TV connected devices can be used in a different location.

The service still includes 1 to 3 Out of Home streams that you can use away from your home network in your mobile devices.

Yes, I believe Katherine is incorrect in stating that it is only mobile devices. You can see why that info I posted is EXTREMELY confusing, and that is why I wanted clarification.

Not true I have used a Roku away from home and my wife is using the Directv stream box at home.

The only thing that coms in play when traveling is local channels and regional sports. Content is based on your billing CC, location, and device. If you  are using a device with GPS or location services and the traveling location has contracts with networks then you will get those networks only or you will get your home networks. It sometimes get confused and may mess up sometimes. Roku and Fire Sticks do not have GPS. I am currently about 250  miles from my home network using a Fire Stick and I receive my home locals. Like I said sometimes it gets confused but usually works that way.

No, don't switch to youtubetv. There aren't as many channels and the interface is not better. RupertPicante is a YTTV (Edited per community guidelines) he posts the same message in every Dtv stream topic.

Connected to your home network, you can stream DIRECTV STREAM on up to 20 compatible devices connected to your home network at the same time.

To watch on the go, you can enjoy up to three streams at the same time on mobile or streaming devices away from your home network.

Keep in mind: Any streams you use out of your home network count toward your 20 total stream limit. Only two streaming devices connected to a TV can be accessed out of the home. For example: one DIRECTV STREAM device and one Firestick.

Clarification question - we have the original DirectTV satellite service as we live in an area where internet can be iffy.  But recently we have been using the DirectTV streaming app on our Firestick.

When we travel on vacation, will the service work with our Firestick, even though our subscription is for the satellite service?

Yes, you should be able to continue enjoying your DIRECTV satellite service via the streaming app while on the go with a fire stick. Be aware though that DIRECTV STREAM and DIRECTV satellite are two different services. DIRECTV STREAM is a service solely over the internet via streaming devices like Rokus, fire sticks, or Apple TV’s. Meanwhile, DIRECTV satellite is mainly service over satellite with an additional secondary perk allowing subscribers to access live tv and on-demand via the app. Just thought I’d let you know so you don’t get confused.

As a note, while traveling, you will likely lose access to the local channels. In that case, be sure to bring along a handy antenna ( OTA) so you can continue watching locals as you travel. Or, you can simply download each local channel’s individual app on the fire stick App Store.
