Basically, you must use the number of your receiver to complete your control remote settings. Do you have a DirecTV Stream box? That remote is designed to work with the DirecTV Stream box and won't directly control your Samsung TV's DirecTV App. 

Hello- no I do not have a box. Just the DirectTV Stream app on my Samsung TV (similar to Netflix, etc) 

I googled what remote is best to navigate DIRECTV stream and that remote came up. 

Any suggestions on a remote that will link to my TV and has a guide button, etc? My Samsung TV remote is pretty plain

As mentioned, that DirecTV remote won't control your Samsung TV Apps. You'll want to get a DirecTV Stream box if you want those features with that remote. Otherwise you're stuck with the Samsung TV remote. 

Oh now I see where Amazon says it’s compatible with C71KW-200 & 400 boxes. I was under the impression. This was the universal remote

Sorry, you won't find one. Native TV apps on your Samsung TV can only be controlled by the TV's remote. You'll need a DirecTV box with its remote if you want features like Guide and direct channel number entry.
