RC73 Works but does not turn TV off

I recently got an Amazon Fire TV Series 4. I also got a new RC73 remote (OK, I got it a couple of years ago, but I just got it out of the package.)

I pressed the mute and enter button on my remote to sync the remote to the TV. Instead of automatically syncing, it came up with a list of TV models. I looked for, but could not find Amazon Fire, but I did find Elite Fire. When I selected this model and I used the volume control it worked, so this is the selection I OK'ed.

All the features of the remote work perfectly except to turn off the TV. The DVR turns off and the TV goes black for a moment, Then the TV displays that there is no source. The only way to turn the TV off is with the remote that came with the TV. The RC73 turns on the TV and the DVR without issue.

It is a minor inconvenience to have to use two remotes to control the TV. Any ideas on a fix?

I assume directv has not yet fully integrated the model TV. Your best bet is using a Harmony remote.

I know that the boxes and the TVs themselves occasionally undergo downloads. In fact, the Amazon Fire was relatively easy to set up, but we had to wait for three sets of downloads to happen. None of them apparently had direct TV in mind.

I called Direct TV support so I could get my remote reset to factory settings. I then went to an "off brand" TV (I am sorry that I forgot which brand this was) and it took three incantations as to which model worked.

Now all functions can be controlled by the remote except to change the source. However, since that's something we do infrequently we'll live with it.
