Phone scam
I keep getting calls from AT&T DirecTV telling me my current account is eligible for a 50% discount. I know it's a scam because I don't have an account, but if you are a DirecTV subscriber, you might be fooled.

Any call that is from "AT&T DIRECTV" is now inappropriately mixing branding and is a fraud. I get such calls and depending on how much time I have to waste to protect someone more gullible, I'll generally play along for 10-15 minutes before telling them they've wasted their time and ending the call.
Anyone who asks you to pay with a gift card is trying to scam you.
