OAN and other conservative news

WHY can I no longer get the news channels we want? They were in our package when we signed up. WHO gives YOU the authority to tell me what news we can watch? Bring them back or lose customers. And I'm speaking on behalf of more than just our household.

Per the TOS you did, as DTV has the right to change channel and programing at anytime.

WHY can I no longer get the news channels we want? They were in our package when we signed up.

DirecTV chose not to negotiate a renewal of the OAN carriage agreement last year. Once it expired, with no new agreement in place, the channel was no longer allowed.

With Newsmax, they were negotiating prior to the agreement ending, but did not reach a compromise by the time the current one ended. As it has been several days without a positive update, and a new conservative network (The First) has been added to the lineup, it is unlikely Newsmax will return (not impossible though).

WHO gives YOU the authority to tell me what news we can watch?

The Terms of Service (ToS) that YOU agreed to. No TV provider promises or guarantees any channel will always be there. As such all provider have a clause that the channels/content may change at ANY TIME. They as the business have the authority on what channels are provided.

As a customer, like the rest of us, you do NOT have the right to dictate what they must or must not have. You do have the right to watch something of your choice from the options available. In addition, YOU have the right to seek another provider if the current options do not work for you.

This is the reality of how it works. You may not like it, but you have your options. And sure other households may feel the same, though it is up to each of them to make their own decisions (assuming you don't do that for them).

Accordingly, we reserve the unrestricted right to change, rearrange, add or delete our programming packages, the selections in those packages, our prices, technologies used to deliver the Service, and any other Service we offer, at any time.

Hard to believe you're not an employee. Regardless, censoring needs to end. No one network, provider, carrier, etc., should EVER dictate what the viewer sees. There should be programming from ALL venues, not just what the elites want to show. That being said, you are absolutely right that I (as well as others) can go with an unbiased carrier, which is what we will be doing. As far as me "telling" others what they should or should not watch, I wouldn't do something so ugly. Everyone in a free society has the right to enjoy whatever they wish. I don't take their choices away from them or try to hide things from others. It is very sad times we live in when censorship is being pushed so hard. And it's sadder that someone like you (not an employee) would be ok with it. Viewpoints from ALL should be what's normal - not selective, mind-numbing lies and blatant miscarriages of truth. When I watch news, I expect to hear facts. Nothing more. I don't want opinions, don't care what politics the reporter has, and don't need explanations of what a newscaster "feels" about the story being told. I am educated enough to decide for myself based on the FACTS. That's what NEWS used to be. And one day will return to. Until then, we will opt for news from other providers who don't believe in hiding facts from viewers and misleading the viewer. Shame on Direct TV.

DirecTV is a business, it made an economics decision, not a political one. The whole point of a company revolves around making money for its services. DirecTV shoots its self in the foot if it were political, it is not. This is why "The First" conservative news program was added in place.

Newsmax might be back, in 2016 it was dropped by Dish and DTV only to resign less than a year later in 2017 with both TV providers. (Of course over Carriage Fee disputes as well)
