You have no question. It is a demand. This is a public forum full of customers, not directv

Bye, DTV can't provide a channel that they don't have a contract with and is not providing a feed.

@ANL9538TODAY

First of all, if you want to have an adult discussion, then please turn off your CAPS LOCK. And only you mentioned "the Left" and "Nancy P", so it is you who brought that up so might encourage future posters to talk about it.

You made demands in your opening post, not an actual question. Since you are rather late to the situation (by about 3 weeks), we shall try and clear this up for you.

Carriage agreement came up between DirecTV and Newsmax. Apparently Newsmax wanted a big change in terms going forward related to cost, which DirecTV did not agree with. Both acted within their rights, as nothing can force one to agree to the other.

DirecTV's stance is though negotiations have stalled, they are willing for Newsmax to return. So if Newsmax wants to start up negotiations again, DirecTV will listen. For those that prefer a "conservative" station, a new channel (The First) is now available on DirecTV.

For the full official statement from DirecTV: https://www.directv.com/tvpromise/

If you want to cancel and go with another provider that has Newsmax, fair enough. Keep in mind that no TV provider guarantees any channel will always be there. They are subject to change at any time.

I do not understand the BIG DEAL being made about a channel that can be watched for free on the Newsmax app.  I personally do not want to pay more for a channel that anyone who can stream can access for FREE!

From my experience it is more "couch warriors" and this is their flavor of the month on what to be upset about and they don't care about the real reasons.

Sure, I can watch Newsmax for free on it's App and other streaming programs, but I prefer to subscribe to an all-in-one package where I can DVR the programs I want to watch and view them later. I pay for that package anyway. It's not that hard of an idea to grasp.

Question: Why would I pay for a package that only lets me view dozens of news programs I don't want to watch?

ATT is paying CNN $14.00 per year for each person signed into there net work. ATT offered  Newsmax $1.00 per year for each party signed up for Newmax. That's directly from the CEO of Newsmax. That's the reason for the standoff between ATT and Newsmax. Plus you mite check out the letter that Nancy P. wrote to ATT regarding Newsmax and four other conservative news outlets.

My understanding is AT&T/Directv wasn't even willing to pay Newsmax a penny ($0.01) to stay. Directv wanted Newsmax for FREE, even though other left leaning channels were collecting normal fees from Directv.

And why would they if Newsmax offers it free. I sure would not.

There is nothing that says that any TV provider must pay one TV channel the same as another, regardless if they are in the same genere/category. As for what cost DirecTV will accept (be it free or lower than Newsmax's last offer) is uknown.

What is also in dispute is that DirecTV doesn't want to be funding Newsmax shifting their streaming service from free to a pay model. Paying for carraige is one thing, but paying for them to make key changes in their business model is another.

Either way, people just cannot seem to grasp that both companies acted within their rights. Too many think they have some sort of divine right to these channels. In the end, pay TV is entertainment something that is not entitled to anyone.
