Newsmax

Due to DIRECTV canceling Newsmax a signal strictly for political purposes, I will be canceling my DIRECTV and AT&T accounts which I have had for many years.

Not a problem. We are just customers like you on a forum. To cancel call DIRECTV (number in my greeting below) and say ‘cancel’ to the robot. According to others today has been extremely busy for retention/loyalty agents so you may be on hold for awhile.

All leased equipment must be returned to a participating FedEx/ups location. This won’t include things like your dish, wiring, HDMI cables, etc. It is just the receiver, power cord, and remote. Be sure to KEEP the receipt that the clerk gives you so that you have proof of return in the case that DIRECTV tries to accidentally ‘accuse’ you of not returning your equipment.

Its kinda wierd, they let me keep the dvr, but had to return the separate secondary non-dvr box. At least I can still watch all of my recordings even though I have no service now.

@boomerft

I agree, the return process is quite interesting on what they decide they want back and what they don’t want back at all. I’m glad those recordings are still working for you. I assume you disconnected the box from the dish before cancelling? Otherwise, it would receive the kill signal that DIRECTV sends out once you cancel, leaving the recordings not accessible since they require active service to work. Also, I warn you that eventually the box WILL want authorization from the satellite dish to confirm that your subscription is still active so be sure to binge watch everything before the box does ‘brick’ itself.

@RomanNagel

definitely uncalled for. The conversation has stayed civil and the most that we need right now is arguments and issues.
