I called Customer Support and they read the "canned" statement that Newsmax was demanding more $. IMHO, it is political censorship since OANN got cancelled or dropped by DTV last year, but underperforming channels still get licensed to stay on. Quiet the conservatives! That is DTV's mantra now. I will not use them again in the future.
No, it’s not political censorship, it’s totally about money. Up until now, Directv has not had to pay Newsmax any carriage fees. Newsmax now wants carriage fees, Directv is not willing to pay that. It’s that simple. Directv has stated they would continue to carry Newsmax under the terms of the old agreement.
"under the terms of the old agreement"..... if your ratings were worse or same as when the original agreement was signed, then I would agree to that.
I have not researched the rating of Newsmax but if Newsmax can justify their rating going up and/or beating the competition, then Newsmax should be able to obtain a more favorable contract. I would like to know what deals the liberal media gets as they never seem to have any issues with getting "kicked" off DirectTV.

IIRC, CNN is under the same contract as TNT, TBS, Cartoon Network and other channels.
MSNBC is under the same contract as USA, some NBC channels, Bravo, etc.
It usually helps when news channels are in the same ownership as other channels.
