You will need to call DirecTV to cancel. This is a public forum of other customers, so we cannot add Newsmax or do anything with your account.
At this point it seems DirecTV and Newsmax couldn't come to a new agreement. And a new network seems to be swapping in.

Outraged about the cancellation of NewsMax. I'm assuming that DirecTV will be offering a refund since they will clearly be saving money by replacing it with an inferior product? Amazing that a company that specializes in communications can't find a way to negotiate a contract. Why not drop some of the absolute garbage sitcom and rerun channels to fund a decent news channel? The fact that you didn't proves that this isn't about money, it's about politics. I'll be looking for a new provider.

That would be a no. There are never refunds when a channel goes away. If you call and voice your concern, they might provide you a small discount or credit but it is not required. A channel going away tends to only partially offset those other costs, not replace them entirely. Plus Newsmax was previously provided at no cost to DirecTV so it didn't affect prior cost itself, which was a big part of the negotiation as they wanted to paid now (makes sense). Don't know if DirecTV balked at having any cost at all, or just that Newsmax went higher than they felt reasonable. And of course one channel being replaced by another would in no way cause bill to just go down.
Doesn't matter how good you are. There is never a guarantee that a contract would be negotiated. Specializing in communication doesn't mean you can force both sides to agree on everything. Sometimes two sides just cannot agree, such is life.
For starters, channels do not get dropped when they are still under a carriage agreement. Beyond that, it is up to the TV provider which channels are worth carrying with or not. You may find those channels "garbage", but you are neither DirecTV nor the majority of the viewer base.
That isn't proof at all, just a biased conclusion as it fits what you want without needing it to be true. Since they were negotiating with Newsmax, that would highly suggest (again I admit not proof, just simply more likely) that it was money related. In my opnion, if it were political then there wouldn't have been negotiations at all.
Do what you feel is right. Just remember you need to call DirecTV to cancel as nothing here affects your account since we are customers like you. Do be aware they do not prorate the final bill, so if you start a new service but have days left in your service month, you don't get credit for those unused days.

Just shut up and take it huh RomanNagel? You are an (Edited per community guidelines)! You are trying to undermine the upset this has caused people. If you think your repeated comments that "no one cares" will shut down the voices of people that have been loyal customers of Directv you are wrong. If people want to express their disagreement with this decision about Newsmax, and that Directv can expect the loss of business, maybe you don't care, but I cannot help thinking that somewhere at AT&T there might be someone who does care. Maybe this could make someone in Directv management a little slower to pull the trigger on the next decision to censor conservative voices on their platform.

I stand by that OAN and Newsmax are different situations. With Newsmax they did negotiate continued carriage (though they didn't reach an agreement), but OAN they didn't even try and just let the agreement expire as they announced months in advance of it happening.
And a new conservative network has been announced on DirecTV. So Newsmax had chance to stay, but the two could not find a solution that was acceptable to both of them.

I am a long time DirecTV streaming and ATT mobile and internet customer. I am about to cancel my DirecTV account and switch to Fubo Elite, which offers better programming choices for me at less cost, AND includes Newsmax in their basic package. I will also be switching my ATT mobile and internet accounts to another carrier. Newsmax's viewership eclipses CNN and MSNBC. Like minded conservative viewers represent close to 40% of the population. I would think as a market share this would entice DirecTV to conclude a contract to retain Newsmax. Regardless, they have lost me as a customer for this and for no other reason.

@RomanNagel Except that if you call Directv, their employees will suggest that you post your concerns here to provide your say to Directv since they monitor these forums. Perhaps that is just a lie, but that is coming from Directv.
If there is a better way to complain to Directv to provide our thoughts to decision makers there, by all means share how to do so. Calling their customer service and speaking to low level employees who don't know anything beyond the public press releases isn't that.
Some of us have been with Directv for a long time and would like to believe that our thoughts may mean something in their decision making process before it comes to requiring a cancellation.

DTV hates half the country. Just keep pushing Conservatives onto steaming and see how that works out.

They are not pushing anything. Lick your wounds and move on. Newsmax is available free using their app and many other avenues.
