My home network speed is dropped when Genie HR54 box is connected to the network

I have 100Mb/s in my home network. Once I connect Genie box trough DECA or wifi the speed drops to a third. If I disconnect and reset the router then the speed gets back to normal.

Is this normal or is there a way to avoid  this? I understand the internet connection is only to get VOD or apps. And I am not using any of these while the speed is dropped.

Is really a Genie 2 box available? I asked customer service to upgrade mine and they said HR54 is the latest.

How is your Hr54 Connected to your Router/Switch--it should be connected either with a Direct Lan Cable --or wireless --if you have a DECA connected to your Switch/router (REMOVE IT) and reconfig the internet settings for the - HR54 for wireless or Connect a LAN cable direct to your Router/Switch.

thanks for the advice.

Originally I had using DECA but after calling customer service they explained that my HR54 have wifi. So I connected to Wifi. but the situation didn't change.

I have protection plan and finally today they accepted to upgrade my devices to Genie 2.

I hope this new box wont have this issue.

Hi! Please answer, is your problem decided? Because now I had the same situation. Also try to disconnect and reset the router and for some short time it gets normal.

Cheers, Jane,

Hello, I ended not upgrading to Genie 2 because everything is wireless and there are a lot of issues with drop connections. Then I decided to setup the network via LAN and keep it disconnected from my router.

Only if I want to order pay per view or on demand I connect temporary.

In other words, there is no fix for this issue at this moment. I understand directv has been sold (no more part of ATT) so we have to wait for the new company to improve their devices.
