Keep Newsmax!

We want the channel NEWSMAX kept on DirecTV.  We vehemently oppose political discrimination and censorship against conservative media like Newsmax. You deplatformed OANN last year and now your sights are on Newmax, one of the very few conservative voices on a public news channel level. Please protect the first amendment rights to free speech. As a long time customer of both AT&T and Directv, removing Newsmax will be deal breaker for our household.

This is just a public forum of other customers. Whatever agreement settled between DIRECTV and NewsMax is beyond our knowledge as customers. All we can do is wait until tomorrow.

If it is indeed dropped, you can cancel by calling in (number in my greeting below) and saying ‘cancel’ to the robot. All leased equipment gets returned to a participating FedEx or UPS location with your account number. Be sure to keep the receipt given to you by the clerk so you can avoid the possibility of an equipment non return fee (ERF) as you now have proof of return.

Additionally, if you are somehow still locked into a contract, DIRECTV will charge you $20 for every month left. This is known as the early termination fee (ETF). These are restarted when you add/upgrade to new equipment or move services to another address. If you haven’t done this within the last 2 years, you should be good to cancel without the fee.

Keep Newsman - It is my FAVORITE NEWS STATION - It is the station for truthful news and speaks the truth - not the stations that cover up everything that is truthfully occurring. This is AMERICAN  AND FREE SPEECH BELONGS TO EACH AND EVERY ONE OF US.  OUR FOREFATHERS FOUGHT FOR OUR FREEDOM AND THAT INCLUDES THE RIGHT TO SPEAK WHAT YOU BELIEVE NOT WHAT A GROUP OF PEOPLE WHO THINK THEY HAVE THE RIGHT TO INCLUDE OR ERASE THE STATIONS AT THEIR WHIM AND REMOVE A STATION BECAUSE THEY DO NOT LIKE WHAT THEY HAVE TO SAY.  THANK YOU  PAULA KNIGHT   pauknig2@aol.com

I recommend you remove your email address because since this is a public forum open to the entire world spammers will try to gain access to it. Or, otherwise, you’ll start to receive ‘MANY’ scam emails every day.

A year ago we got a notice from DirecTV that OANN would be cancelled in April 2022. We called DirecTV to ask that they keep it. They assured us they would not so we gave them our ultimatum, which is the only power we have at our disposal, that the day DirecTV dropped OANN is the day we would drop DirecTV. That's exactly what it came down to. How I'm allowed to participate in this forum is a mystery to me but I check in every couple of months to see what's going on. This is my first response since spring of last year, as I recall.

Please read a letter that was sent to DirecTV and several other tv providers admonishing them for carrying Fox News, Newsmax and OANN and then demanding that they remove them from their lineup. The letter was sent by two members of Congress, yes Congress. It's no conspiracy, two California democrats in the House of Representatives created and sent this letter.

Do an internet search for: "Eshoo/McNerney'"

After reading the letter you'll find that there is more to the story than anyone else is telling you.

If you want to remain a DirecTV customer, that's fine. We chose the other option but we still have OAN and Newsmax.

Called DirecTV and canceled my service. The customer service rep was very courteous and went through the offers to get me to stay.  DirecTV is offering a $10 credit for NewsMax being canceled during negotiations as he put it.  I was also offered a 1 year $50 discount but I told him that's not enough of a discount not cancel my service. I told him if DirecTV brings back NewsMax before my service is disconnected then I might stay....

Now you can use the app (which is free) and get the same live content and save money for another service of your choice.

Dropped DirecTV last year due to the cancellation of OAN & don't miss it one bit!  I have two Rokus, a Firestick and a TiVo for OTA channels.  Takes some getting used to but I am happy to be saving over $100/mo. for the basic DTV package that I had.  Figured I'd check in to the threads here about the Newsmax cancellation (which was sudden?).  for those of you pleading for DirecTV to keep Newsmax, save your breath.

I am so tired of big corporations forcing people to conform to their beliefs. I thought this was the land of the free. Please don't give us your crap about negotiations.  You insult the intelligence of the American people. Your industry is a dying one. Once everyone has reliable internet access, you and your exorbitant prices and fees will be dropped by everyone.  Why not keep the good will of the people?  We want OANN and Newsmax. Quit trying to make yourselves out to be moral censors and provide your service! Period!

@whitete61 There are many that share the same feelings.  But I just do not understand why this is such a big deal when you can watch Newsmax and OANN for free on PlutoTV and even on their own apps.  Although OANN you do have to pay a subscription fee but it is not very much. But the Newsmax app is free.  I could understand someone complaining if they did not have internet but the people who do not have access to reliable internet are very few.

I'm new to this forum and agree with Catskills_Dan that this smells very political as I've read the same letter from those Democrats in Congress. Now, two out of the three conservative channels they targeted are gone from the lineup. I've also seen the NewsMax response that DIRECTV is unwilling to pay any fee at all while liberal channels are getting paid by DIRECTV. So it does look political. What else are customers supposed to think?

It's free anyway. Go watch and enjoy. Life is short chasing a lost cause.
