Dropping Newsmax channel?

What is the world is Direct TV doing?! Dropping the 4th highest rated cable news station in America from its platform? Are you kidding me? This is not a business decision, this is insanity. How can you stand in front of your shareholders and tell them this is a smart business decision. Bring back Newsmax. This decision will backfire on Direct TV big time! Is Direct TV afraid of freedom of speech simply because Newsmax typically represents a conservative viewpoint? You have 18 other progressive based news channels....many who grossly underperform Newsmax in their audience. Why not drop one of those? Again, this is NOT a business decision.

Newsmax didn't like DTV offer to renew the contact and walked away from future talks so DTV replace them with The First.

THAT.... is total and pure (Edited per community guidelines)! Your response reads like a pre-rehearsed line by a CNN newscaster.  Nice try. Direct TV dumped Newsmax and is now giving bots like you the standard talking point to say it was Newsmax that dumped Direct TV. Pathetic!

If it wasn't a business decision, then there wouldn't have been negotiations in the first place. The two did not reach an agreement, so Newsmax left once the carriage agreement was up. It may not be a business decision you would have done or agree with, but it was theirs to make.

With how much time has passed since then with no showing of continuing negotiations, and a new conservative network (The First) has arrived, that indicates that Newsmax is gone for the long run. If you are desperate to have Newsmax, you will need to watch it elsewhere.

Lay off the toxic. We are customers like you. There is no requirement that any of us share your specific view of the situation.

The response you got was honest. DirecTV and Newsmax were negotiating, but didn't come to an agreement. Upon the carriage agreement ending, Newsmax pulls the feed (as is their right). DirecTV is leaving the door open for Newsmax to start up talks again, but appears not to be actively pursuing it themselves. In the meantime, you've got another conservative network (The First) as an option. Though at this point it does seem unlikely that Newsmax would return.
