Closed my account today. No Newsmax for me, no $128/month for AT&T/Directv. After Directv cancelled One America 9 months ago, I was down to 2 channels that I tuned in daily. Then Directv cancelled one of them! Can't see how anyone can say AT&T/Directv is not playing politics with 1 conservative news channel now and over 20 liberal news channels. At some point you've got to say it's not about business, it's about playing politics.
DirecTV is not banning free speech. This is carraige negotiations. Network wants to add cost that DirecTV doesn't want to pay. They have their offiical statement regarding the situation for anyone to review: https://www.directv.com/tvpromise/
In any case, 'we' did not do anything to Newsmax. This is a public forum of other customers.
att has the right to decide not to negotiate, Juniper. This is America. I hope att's customer's continue to fight for their rights to be able to watch various types of programming as they wish, as Americans. Smells a little dictatorish, but that's just me.
I agree that DirecTV has the right to negotiate or not. I wasn't saying otherwise. In this case DirecTV is willing to negotiate but they have chosen to "leave the door open". So if Newsmax decides to start up those negotiations again, DirecTV will listen, but is just letting the network make the initial move on that.
We having the right to watch what we want does not force a TV provider to have or not any particular channel. That is where I feel a lot of other customers are getting confused, TV channels are not an inherrent right. This is an entertainment business. If they don't have the channel we want, we either watch another channel instead or go somewhere else.

Why should DirecTV customers have to pay for something you can get for free, else ware . Use the app and you can still watch it.
