Direct TV lie

Why do you continue to lie about the reason you terminated Newsmax.  We have already started to secure another service.

What lie?  The contract expired so newsmax removed their feed to DTV.

@stpat

None of us removed Newsmax as this is a public forum of other customers. We have no more control over the situation than you do.

DirecTV and Newsmax have been in carraige negotiation for awhile. The current agreement just ended without a new one reached. As such the feed has been removed (usually that is by the channel themselves as they own the broadcast rights). Though DirecTV like any TV provider would normally prefer to carry the channel while negotiations continue, there is no obligation to do so.

It is my understanding that Newsmax was unique in that the feed was provided to DirecTV at no cost. Naturally, they want to be paid now. Whether DirecTV has been negotiating to keep it as it has been, or is ok with some cost but not as much as Newsmax has been wanting, is unclear.

Since they have been negotiating for months, this comes down to a normal carriage agreement dispute. Many have voice their opinions that Newsmax being off DirecTV (at least for now) is driven by another reason, but I believe if that were the case then they wouldn't have negotiated in the first place and just let the agreement expire.

Nothing has been mentioned anywhere close to "hating" Newsmax. Responses have been given regarding honest perception of the situation.

In any case, if you are lucky the negotiations have simply stalled and Newsmax would be back eventually (just like any other carriage agreement that reaches this point). However if it is not quick enough for you, or they are gone indefinitely, then you are free to go elsewhere to find the channel.

What department do you work in?  Makes no difference I and and at least 3 other families have contacted a service that carries Newsmax and actually provides TV service at a cheaper rate.  Sad to leave after many years but I know Direct TV does not long for success and to serve all its clients.

What department do you work in?

If you had bothered to read, you would have seen that none of us work in any "department". We are customers like yourself. There are the ocassional employees who post in the forum (as shown by the "employee" tag), but they are on their own time (off-the-clock). Only those identified as a moderator or official forum "help" team are both employeed and representing DirecTV.

Makes no difference...

If the reality of the situation makes no difference to you, well that is your choice. Don't care if you stay or go. If you cannot live without the channel, even for a short while (as is hoped for some that negotiations will start up again, but we shall see), then certainly go elsewhere.
