Canceling Newsmax
Directv has cancelled my favorite and informative channel 349 Newsmax. I believe that they are trying to cancel conservative voices speaking against the “Woke” and crazy culture with so many liberal causes. Even though I have been a directv consumer for 20 years plus, I am planning on canceling them and finding a new service. I would advise others to get rid of their service also.

Unfortunately, all TV providers go through negotiations like this but both sides cannot seem to come to an agreement and that is why Newsmax is no longer on Directv at this time. Directv did give an alternative channel called The First on channel 349 which is a conservative channel. Directv has left the door open so Newsmax could come back as long as they can work out a beneficial agreement for both parties. You can also watch Newsmax for free if you are able to stream through their Newsmax app or through PlutoTV. Hope this helps.

I was getting tired of the same old movies again and again, and disgusted with the newer "woke" programs. Aside from the occasional bright spot like Yellowstone, I was down to watching the news on 2 channels. And Directv cancelled one of them.
So I cancelled my service today. No Newsmax for me, No $128/month for Directv.
And with the $128 I save, I can buy the box set of Yellowstone when it comes out.

I'm planning to cancel due to this impasse as well. The loyalty dept said newsmax is cancelled because they want to charge carrier fees when the channel is available free on other platforms. Are there any other channels that are free on other platforms that charge carrier fees to DirecTV? Bet I can name many. They are lying.

@imsap65 Prove it, then. Same some. I don’t know of any that offer their programming free over the internet. You normally must log in with credentials from a tv provider. Directv is not lying about this. In fact, supposedly NewsMax even offered to quit offering their programming free over the internet if Directv agreed to pay to carry them but I sure don’t want my bill going up for another channel I don’t watch.

Us too but worried about streaming services and not a fan of Dish. We are so angry about this.

They didn't say that is the only channel that does it. Not liking the answer doesn't make it a lie. You want the channel, then you either wait for Newsmax to make a better offer and allow it to be returned or go watch it somewhere else.

Hello-
I was a DirecTV customer for 20+ until several years ago when I changed services to Comcast. It’s been a challenging few years with Comcast and recently I had been considering a change back to DirecTV. Slightly undecided but planning to make a decision within the next few days, I was heavily leaning towards returning to DirecTV. That was, until I was made aware of a decision by DirecTV that would’ve had me regretting my move. That decision from DirecTV was to drop Newsmax. You see, when I select a provider’s services, I’m not paying for them to provide me with that they want me to see. It’s about what I want to to see. At least, I believe I am the customer in this type of transaction.
Therefore, I wanted to personally thank DirecTV on their decision which helped me narrowly miss a mistake I would’ve made returning to DirecTV.
Thank you.

Newsmax is free on many platforms. Why pay for something free.

Exactly. Why pay for CNN and the rest on DIRECTV?

CNN is part of a bundle of networks that require a fee for all. Newsmax is a standalone network.

Newsmax is a network by itself. CNN on the other hand is part of a group of networks. TV providers aren't allowed to piecemeal individual channels, so they have to pay for the group when under one owner.
In any case, DirecTV has decided that Newsmax's offer is not a good value. They want to keep the same (or similar) agreement to what they had before. Newsmax refuses that and so has walked away from negotiations.
Both sides acted within their rights, which we customers have no say in. If you want Newmax then you will have to find it somewhere else. Though I wonder what will happen when those other providers carraige agreement comes up with Newsmax what will happen.
