Uverse Search and On Demand are NOT working

When I search for a show, I enter a few letters, then an error message displays.

The message states Try again in 30 minutes. Click the Back button to exit.

It happens every time. The same problem exists for On Demand.

I can confirm that the "search" feature on both the On Demand page and live program guide is working properly.

Try rebooting the receiver in question.  If that doesn't work, reboot the DVR.  If that doesn't work, reboot the gateway and then reboot the DVR and/or receivers.

I've been having trouble with on-demand searches on Uverse, also. We subscribe to HBO, however, when I search on demand for John Adams, the only thing that gets pulled up is "John Adams cast." The series itself does not appear.

Then, I had been watching John Adams on my Roku, but after the first few episodes, I'm being told to subscribe to HBO or pay per episode. Ridiculous, since I already have a subscription for HBO.

I have the same problem, have rebooted DVR receiver, reset Router and even got new DVR receiver but nothing fixes the problem. Tech support can't help me and neither can Service Tech

Glad to help you fix your DVR functions, rewcpw.

To troubleshoot your DVR without losing your saved programs, perform a non-disaster recovery.

Follow the steps from our guide on how to troubleshoot your DVR:

  1. Unplug the receiver or DVR power cord from the wall or back of the box.

  2. Wait 10 seconds.

  3. Plug in the receiver and DVR.

  4. When three white dots appear on the screen, unplug the receiver/DVR again.

  5. Repeat this process two more times.

  6. Plug the receiver/DVR back in on the third time and leave in. Three white dots appear followed by a gear with a status bar at the bottom of the screen. If the Recovery screen does not appear, repeat the steps above.

If the problem persists, try a disaster recovery. This will cause your DVR to lose all pre-existing data, such as recordings, Parental Control settings, etc.

  1. Hold down the Down arrow key + OK key +Power key outlined in red at the same time to power down the DVR.

  2. Continue pressing these keys until a gear appears on the screen and release the Down arrow + OK keys.

  3. If the gear on the TV screen appears, wait until completion.

  4. If the gear on the TV screen does not appear, repeat the disaster recovery process.

Let us know if this helped, or if you need further assistance.

"On Demand" and "Search" are both working now.

I call AT&T customer service. Went through the menu (wait for each to finish) until I got a real person.  They will have you reboot everything.  If it still doesn't work, tell them you know someone that got their software updated and these features are working for them. Turns out all I needed was to get my software updated.  Whether it was software on my end or theirs I don't know.

But it's working now.

I had this problem after switching out receivers.  The "unplug, wait 10, plug back in 3 times" worked for me!!!
