U-verse On Demand freezes and loses audio when playing

Whenever I play any On Demand show from any category - Premium, Free Shows, U-Verse Movies, doesn’t matter - the show freezes and will lose audio whenever play resumes.  It happens any time of day but seems to happen most consistently in the afternoons.  If I rewind the show, the freezing/audio trouble will get better for about 30 seconds and then it begins again.  It happens in different periods in the show, so if I rewind/replay enough times, eventually I will get most of what was said.  Closed Captioning doesn’t work right either when this is happening.  The captions are a little delayed anyway, but with constant video freezing and inconsistent audio, the captions are displayed inconsistently as well.  We have tried everything - replacement DVR, AP, wired and wireless receivers.  This has been going on for years, but with streaming services on the rise, it has been easier to just find something else to watch or find another way to watch the same show.  Casting from an app on my phone usually works and that’s exactly what I’m about to do again.  I just wanted to check the forum to see if anybody had figured out what this problem is and how to fix it.  Looks like this is just another way that U-verse under serves its customer. I think the earliest report of this issue is from 2014, so yeah… 8 years later with the exact same issue?  Deeply disturbing, but clearly not a dealbreaker.  It’s just sad and one of the reasons I will continue to give them low customer satisfaction scores and mediocre reviews.

On Demand shows are delivered from Att servers, so the DVR doesn’t enter into the picture.   What level of Att internet service do you have there?

In any case, using your U-verse subscription via native apps to watch on demand programming is a better option anyway because there will always be more content offered to you.
