Uverse app on PC or iPad 2
I am trying diligently to access my Uverse TV remotely, streaming NBC Sports Chicago from
Northern Wisconsin. Using Uverse app, it's necessary to use an Android emulator to run the
app on my PC Laptop. I get as far as the Guide, but when you click on a channel, like NBC
Sports Chicago, it restarts the App. Vicious circle! I read that Uverse app won't run on PC,
but I tried it to prove it to myself.
In an AT&T chat I was told that Apple IOS 9.3.5 was sufficient to run Uverse app on iPad. I've
tried with same result as PC, Guide and out. I've also tried 3rd party apps, like going directly
to NBC Sports for their app. Still no luck.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks. TheProf

@TheProf
Hold on, you’re making this much too hard for yourself. On PC, there may be a native Windows app, no need to use an emulator. Beyond that, a browser will work just as well. You’ll still use your Uverse TV credentials to authenticate to their service.

From the website:
Get the free U-verse app from the App Store®, Google PlayTM, or the Amazon® app store. The app is compatible with:

What happens when you try this:
Does it authenticate but you can't watch the video because it drops out?
Is this on the iPad running iOS 9.3.5 or on the Android emulator on the PC?
Have you tried using the 3rd party websites on the PC?

Thanks for replies! On PC with Bluestacks5 as Android emulator, the Uverse app cranks up, but only brings up guide. When I click on a channel, a blue donut spins, then the app reloads and takes me back to the app's loading page, and back to guide. I think I'm having better luck skipping Uverse app and going right to NBC Sports app on the Bluestacks5 program. I got some videos to play, now it's a matter of a live game, whether that's going to effect streaming.
With iPad (IOS 9.3.5), Uverse app will install, NBC's apps will not (incompatible due to age, no doubt). On guide, I'll try to open any channel, it will try to load with spinny thing, then take me right back to guide. It feels almost like iPad needs a video
plug-in.
Tonight, when game is on, I'll try these tests all over again, but I'm optimistic about PC's chances with NBC Sports on Android emulator. Thanks again! TheProf

Hey @TheProf. We understand that you're having trouble with the U-verse app. As the Ace stated that is not a supported device.
You can try what the Ace suggested and let us know if that works for you. Please let us know so we can see what we can do to help.

My thoughts is that the emulator software probably doesn't do a very good job of emulating hardware-accelerated video decoding. For a Windows PC I would be looking at the third party websites (authentication with your U-verse credentials) using a browser running natively on Windows (such as Chrome or Edge).
I was going to suggest trying a content aggregator, e.g. Channels Plus, but they don't appear to have a Windows / Browser client. Plex has the Browser/Windows client, but not the ability to aggregate from third party providers via TVE.

Thanks all, really appreciate your time and expertise. My iPad says iOS 9.3.5, so according to those requirements, it cuts the muster, but being iPad2 makes it automatically prone to obsolescence.
Seems like MAC is the environment best designed for these applications. Too bad, because I'm PC all the way, my iPad being a hand-me-down. I'll always put in a little extra effort when it's something I think I can lick, and when it involves watching my favorite ball team! Thanks again - TheProf

Don't know that the mac would be any better. iOS is not OSX.

Thanks gr8sho -
I'm getting to that point, you know, the bopping in the head. I started with the Uverse app thing, found out browser does it, though PC won't run it. So, last night I used Edge (normally I use Opera) and went to NBC Sports, then to the White Sox game. It asks what service I use, I choose Uverse, then Login. Problem is, when I hit play, it tells me it's blacked out.
Why would they black out a local game? I'm in Chicago today, tomorrow's got a game on. It won't be blacked out, guaranteed. I haven't given up yet! Thanks - TheProf

@TheProf.
Thank you to all the aces for the useful information.
Here is more information on what causes blackouts for sporting events.
The game may have been on a locally broadcasted channel outside of NBC Sports. This is why it would be blacked out on that channel.
Let us know if this helps.

Thanks Marc -
Not sure if not being a DIRECTV customer is important, as I'm only on Uverse. I have service in Chicago, but not in Wisconsin, where I'm trying to access my Uverse channels.
Tonight when the Sox play, I will be getting some answers, being able to be here in Chicago should shine some light on streaming games. In Wisconsin, I have Frontier (only service available, I would dump it if not) who have already let me know they do not support NBC Sports stream. So I gave up on connecting through them, it's Uverse or bust. I do get "Gameday" through Sox portal, but it's merely play-by-play. Watching the live game is much more preferable.
Thanks to all Aces who have chimed in here. I'll follow this up tonight during game time, when things will be more apparent. TheProf

Alright, I'm back in Wisconsin, and am watching Sox - Royals game using NBC Sports Chicago stream on Opera browser. It's working perfectly, as it was Thursday night in
Chicago. The iPad went to donut on Uverse app, then went back to login in cycle. I'm going to try a Macbook next up here.
I would call this a success. Thanks to everyone for your contributions! TheProf
