U200 Package - Not Receiving Channels As Advertised

I switched my TV package from U450 to U200 yesterday. I selected the U200 package based on the package information provided on AT&T's channel lineup page. After switching to the U200 package, all local HD channels and many cable HD channels were no longer accessible. The now-blacked out channels are all shown as included in U200 on the channel lineup page. I wasted an hour speaking with two AT&T customer reps, who both told me that those channels are not included in U200, and attempted to sell me access to the channels for an additional $10 / month. Does AT&T routinely bait and switch customers?

HD channels are included in NEW accounts and are $10 higher.

HD channels are included in U450 only. To get HD on other levels there's a $10 HD fee.

To clarify what skeeter is saying, there are two different U-200 packages: One is $10/month higher and includes HD, the other doesn't. Which U-200 you get depends on when you signed up for U-verse, before a certain date, HD is a $10 option, after that date, it's not optional. The same is true for U-300. Neither you, nor the CSR, can see that there are two different versions of U-200 because your account can only get the one that applies to you.

The website is designed for new customer eyeballs, even though there is no such thing as a new U-verse customer now. I fought this battle for the same reason a few years ago. I was unable to convince them that it was important that existing customers see the correct HD story.

HD is an extra charge.  However, the deceptive practice of stating "30 channels" doesn't tell you that 3/4 of the are infomercial channels and even include the "My Account" channel.  Shame on them for double-dipping; taking credit for including channels in our package and then collecting revenue from the companies doing the advertising.

I think they do that to. I just switched u200 from u300 and when I pull up channel 1366 (HMM) it says I am not subscribe to that channel even though it shows it is part of the u-200 package.

Do not trust ATT on anything.

We'd be happy to check that you're getting the right channels for your package, edavis1209.

First, please create a new thread. This one is 2 years old and could end up getting closed, which would keep us from being able to respond to you.

We'll be on the lookout for your new post!
