@Ldthompson8

Since you're here, you have a Uverse TV subscription.  When using broadcasters app they will present a list of providers as part of the authentication step.  When selecting Uverse TV, one of two things will happen.  If you're on your home network, it should complete successfully at that point and you're done.  If not on home network the app will ask for a userid and password. What they're looking for here is your Uverse member ID credentials.

There are numerous threads in this forum with good suggestions on steps a user can take to make sure correct Uverse credentials are being used to authenticate the service.

Hi there, Ldthompson8! We understand that you are getting error when you are trying to stream CNN from your ROKU TV.  We can help you with that.

The message that you are getting is a Blackout message. So let us break that message down.

What is a Blackout?

A blackout is a message that is provided by the broadcaster. That means that the broadcaster has a choice to stream the programing or not.

Different Types of Blackouts

There are different types of blackouts. The list below will give you them.

  • Device restrictions
  • Streaming restriction
  • Determinations by national network
  • Regional Sports Network (RSN) channel
  • Governing league
    • NFL
    • Major League Baseball [MLB]
    • National Basketball Association [NBA]
    • National Hockey League [NHL]
    • This is also in conjunction with local teams

Blackout Facts

  • Blackout requirements/rules vary by channel.
  • Teams, events, and programs not distributed locally are subject to a blackout.

With this being said, the error message that you are getting is device blackout or a streaming restriction.

So try this to see if it helps. If your ROKU TV is using Wi-Fi, then try plugging it up to the AT&T equipment via Ethernet, to see if the error goes away.

Also to replicate the issue, try to stream the channel on your mobile device.

If there is there is anything else that we can do for you, please let us know.

Thank you for using the AT&T Community Forums.

Thank you for your answers.  Somehow the TV SERVICE dropped off my account. Since the service is no longer offer, they wouldn’t reconnect it.  Bumme

Yeah. ATT disassociated Uverse TV from Internet years ago.  Uverse TV is a distinct product.  If you want to stream and take advantage of you ATT Internet service, you can get DirecTVStream and accomplish most if not all of what you're trying to do.  It does mean though you have to subscribe to a streaming service.
