Sony Bravia TV

My tv will only work when I put it through the separate sound bar.I have tried by passing it and can't get tv to work. When ATT came out initially that was the only way they could get system to work,Any suggestions? Thanks

@larrypro13

Hello.  We are talking about U-verse TV here, yes?   Their settop boxes should work without a soundbar via HDMI cable.

We are here to help get your receivers back up and running, .

Thank you to the ace for the useful information.

As they said the receivers should work with just a HDMI cable?

Have you tried replacing the cable, as it may be bad?

This would cause the receiver to not work properly. Also, here is more information on how to troubleshoot your receivers. You may need to reboot your gateway or hook your receiver up to your gateway via ethernet to function properly.

Let us know if this helps.

I did replace HDMI cable. The picture stayed for a while.I thought it was fine. The the picture started going off and on again,so I reconnected it through the sound bar and it is working fine. This tv is only a year old.Great picture when it work's.I know this is not the right way to hook it up.But it works for us.Thank you all for the input.Larry

On my TV, I have the HDMI going directly into the sound equipment. I have a separate HDMI going from sound to TV.

For a while, some people were reporting different/better results with composite HD. I'm not sure if this is still recommended as a workaround, but if it's possible with your TV, maybe it would be worth considering.

Here's one idea...if I'm understanding what you're trying to do:

On your U-Verse remote, press menu.

Select options.

Select audio/language

Select digital audio output.

If you toggle between stereo and surround, does that do anything?

It seems like you're trying to bypass the sound bar which seems peculiar.

I am not trying to bypass the sound bar.I should not have to run the tv through the sound bar. I never had to when I had a Samsung tv.I have tried everything I can think of.Might have to have a tech come out.Larry
