Red X Loss of TV signal/DVR recordings start over

Do I need a new receiver?  Every day (and sometimes twice a day) for the past week or so I get the Red X  on my TV screen and I lose my TV signal.  I have to either reset the receiver and/or unplug the receiver and/or unplug the modem to get the TV to reconnect.  This used to never happen and now it happens daily.  In addition, in the middle of watching a DVR recorded show it will stop dead and tell me to start over.   When I start over and continue watching from the point I was watching it will go a minute or two and again tell me to start over. it will keep doing this.  I am constantly plagued with problems with UVERSE TV lately although my internet and phone keeps working and all green lights on my modem keep working.  Is this possibly a receiver box problem or is the UVERSE TV platform just falling apart before they phase it out?  I'm hesitant to drop UVERSE and switch to the DIRECT TV streaming service just yet but this might be my only option.  Has anyone else had this type of problem and how was the switch to streaming if you've done this?  Thanks.

We're here to help get your TV working again, @Petepop!

A RED X on your TV screen caused by the U-verse receiver represents a boot failure, possible network issue, or hardware problem. You can check our article on fixing the RED X error to find some troubleshooting steps such as rebooting the DVR, checking connections, and performing a non-disaster recovery.

In the meantime, let's meet in a Direct Message to discuss your U-verse DVR. Please check your Direct Message Inbox, which is the chat icon next to the bell icon in the upper right corner of the Forums page.

We hope to hear from you!
