No MEtv on Uverse in Kansas City area?
Every time ABC preempts a show for a national football game they tell us to we can catch watch our regular show on MEtv. I can’t find MEtv on Uverse in the Kansas City.

Ahh yeah, I understand now.
In local markets, games on pay tv channels are guaranteed to be on a local station. I believe this station varies by market, but since ESPN runs ABC's sports, it'd make sense to be ABC.

If it's not available on Uverse in your market, you can pick it up with an OTA antenna.

Yeah....that's a subchannel. Only in extreme limited cases does AT&T U-Verse carry them. I believe the reason is that subchannels require expensive equipment in each market and 99% if the subchannels are rarely watched.
My Fox affiliate was recently moved to channel 6.3...as a result, I get it. I also get (probably?) national feeds of a select number of other subchannels.

Are you sure you meant ABC though? I'm not sure what is being pre-empted, since football games are regular programming.
ABC has NCAA on Saturdays.
Fox has NCAA on Saturdays and NFL on Thursday evenings and Sunday afternoons.
CBS has NCAA on Saturdays and NFL on Sundays.
NBC has Notre Dame and Sunday night NFL.
But yeah, an antenna isn't terribly expensive if you desire to watch live.

It was a Monday night game (Chiefs v Bills). Dancing with the Stars was pre-empted in KC.

We are here to help you with your channels, Nitab58.
Thank you to the aces for the useful information.
All Monday night Football games should be on ESPN and not ABC.
Did you check ESPN to see if the game was airing at that time?
Let us know more information, so we can better assist you.

Yes, I did check ESPN and it was also playing there. I flipped back to ABC to make sure and it was also showing the game. The local station for ABC (KMBC) must have decided that the people in the Kansas City viewing area would rather watch the Chiefs on their channel so they told us if we wanted to watch the originally scheduled show (Dancing With the Stars) we could watch it on MEtv. Well, they should have checked first to make sure that ATT Uverse customers had the option to view MEtv! NOT! This has happened to us before.

It's not up to the channel to determine how many of their millions of people in their viewing area get a particular subchannel.
Nor should it.
