New U-Verse Android App

The new U-Verse app is TERRIBLE. To set a program to record, it tells you to go to the guide. But half the channels are missing from the guide. What are we supposed to do?

Hello @SBH10260! Thank you for reaching out to us! We understand you're facing issue recording in the U-verse app. We hear you, and are happy to assist you.

Remote control help via the Troubleshoot & resolved tool:

  1. Press Menu on your U-verse TV remote control.
  2. Use the arrow keys and scroll down to Help, then press OK.
  3. Scroll down to Information and press OK.
  4. Scroll right and select Troubleshoot & Resolve.
  5. Select TV from the top menu.
  6. Choose DVR and follow the prompts.

Recorded picture freezes or program missing:

  1. Press and hold the POWER button for 5 seconds to reboot your DVR. All the lights on the DVR will go out.
  2. Press the POWER button again to restart.
  3. Press the Recorded TV button on your U-verse TV remote to select your recorded program.

Show still missing? Your program may not have saved the first time you scheduled a recording. Or, someone else in your home may have canceled or deleted the program from another receiver or mobile app.

Recorded program skips.

Try to skip back and replay, or stop and restart the recording. If that doesn't work, reboot your DVR receiver by pressing and holding the POWER button for 5 seconds. Then, press the POWER button again to turn the DVR on.

Log out and log back in:

  • Log out of the U-Verse TV app.
  • Clear the app cache.
  • Uninstall the app.
  • Reboot your device.
  • Reinstall the app.
  • Log back into the app.
  • Check if the guide is updated.

Two things to say here:

1) It appears that the app takes a while to download channel information, and they may show up piecemeal.  After 4 or 5 minutes, they seemed to have completed the loading.

2) I have just recently found that there's a filter that appears to be on by default called "Live Channels"  It appears that this filter, when enabled, blocks local channels.  I'm thinking the intent is that this filter only shows channels that you can view "live" from the app (and local channels, in general, cannot be).   Try touching the funnel at the top of the grid.  Click on Clear All.  See if you now see your locals.
