My tv is being interrupted to allow recoding or viewing on another tv? How do I get the screen to go back to normal?

The tv is giving me the message "this TV was interrupted to allow recording or viewing on another TV in your home." Clicking does nothing, and nothing can make the "continue" button on the screen do anything at all. I know for a fact that the other tv isn't on because we never use it. My mom, unfortunately, does record a lot of programs. But I can't even access the menu to turn recording off when the tv is like this.

Yeah...this is a long-standing bug. I get it when I've paused on my second TV even if the DVR isn't set to record anything anytime soon.

I think what's going on is that the gateway, DVR and receiver get out of synch. It throws up that very misleading message because that's what the programmers told it to do.

The trick is to record anything you're watching on a delay and then to delete that show as soon as you're done or back to live.

Ok, but how do I get my tv to  play like normal when it's stuck on that screen?

Unfortunately, you may have unplug the box.

As previously suggested, we'd recommend restarting your U-Verse TV box. Also, you can check out this information to troubleshoot your TV service

Using your U-verse remote control:
  1. Press Menu.
  2. Select Help > Information > Troubleshoot & Resolve > TV > DVR.
  3. Follow the onscreen prompts.
