My TV breaks up and freezes almost nightly but every Thursday night without failure.

We have called multiple times.  We have spent hours on the phone with people having us check cables and reboot.  We got a new Modem.  We got a new main receiver.  Nothing has worked.  I am overpaying to waste my time for very poor service.

  1. Do you have more than 1 TV?
  2. Does this happen on all TVs or just one?
  3. Does this happen on recordings and live TV, or just one or the other?
  4. How are the TV Receivers connected to the Gateway (wired coax, wired Ethernet, Wireless)?
  5. Do you have Fiber to the home?
  6. If not, have you checked your line stats to see if your problems are with your service line (visit http://192.168.1.254/ , click on the Broadband tab and look for tables with statistics such as Sync Rates, SNR or Noise Margin, Attenuation and error counts.  If you provide screenshots in a reply we can look at them to see if that might be your issue)?

  • Have you tried to do a reset on your receiver?
  • Sometimes doing a reset can help the receiver refresh its performance.
  • To learn how to reset the receiver view this Help With Basic TV Issue troubleshoot article.
  • Additionally, you can power cycle your internet gateway to see if this helps stabilize your TV service and resolve the issue of having a freezing picture.

As I'm sure @JefferMC or @skeeterintexas can tell you, Lafayette, the original poster got a new DVR and a new gateway.

But please tell me how power cycling and resetting will help when we've basically determined the issue is not with the equipment.
