Movies and TV from your phone to your tv
Hi Community, I am trying to watch and TV show. But I want to watch it on my TV. The man at the store told me to get a HDMI cable and I could run it straight from my phone to the TV. So I bought the cord and the adapter for the phone and I still can't get it to work. Do y'all have any suggestions?

Did you switch your TV to take input from the hdmi socket you plugged the hdmi cable into? They are labeled in some way (e.g., hdmi1, hdmi2, or some other unique notation). You must have done this when you set up your uverse when you connected the receiver/dvr to your tv. Just select your input to the one you have the phone connected to.
Generally TV's have more than one hdmi input for inputting video from multiple devices. Your TV should have a menu to select the desired input hdmi socket (check your TV's user's manual). Your TV's remote may have an inpuit select as well. You might want to switch the input back to your uverse receiver when you are done.
Also remember to fully insert your hdmi cable. It's sometimes easy to think it's fully plugged in when it isn't.
Update:
There is one potential problem with this setup. Where did that movie come from when you recorded it on your phone? The "gotcha" here is HDCP copy protection. So if you still can't play the video odds are this may be the reason.

Another suggestion is if you have screen mirroring on your phone and TV you can mirror the screen on your phone to the TV. Your TV manual should show you how to connect it.

I bought an Apple lightning digital av adapter from BestBuy. When I got home to connect it to iPhone and tv, I had no signal. I went back the BestBuy and they figured out that I needed the latest iOS software which includes the Airplay function. After the software installation, it worked. I could mirror Netflix movies on TV very well. However watchtv does not work well. It stopped every 1-2 minutes.

Perhaps get a Roku? They run about $40 or so and plug straight in to your HDMI. They're operated via the included remote or there's the Roku app.
In addition to Netflix, there's a ton of other channels you can download.

You have to check to see if your phone is compatible with the HDMI in setting for casting (or google to check)...p plus have to probably down load an app...just like if you were adding a mouse or keyboard to your PC.....

Check to see if your phone is compatible for HDMI/USB transfer casting.... then if so download an app that allows access to cast....
