Low sound on certain channels; fine on others

Hello!

Recently, certain channels have had very low volume that cannot be resolved by turning the volume up to even max. My parents have the U200 TV package with Showtime/Starz channels. The channels we're having this issue with are:

FYI
Nicktoons
Teennick
MTV
MTV2
Golf Channel

I thought it might be the receiver. I tried muting/unmuting, restarting the receiver, rebooting the Gateway, and removing/reinserting cables. Nothing works. I also discovered that out of the three receivers (one DVR) we have, the sound issues are on all of them. What else can I do to resolve this? Is it the transmission lines of the channels, themselves?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

We're happy to help, @raptormoonx!

Since you already tried resetting, rebooting, and securing the cables, we suggest that you run diagnostics on your service with the Troubleshoot & Resolve Tool. Sign in and click the TV tab to get started.

Let us know how it goes!

I tried the Troubleshoot & Resolve Tool and it couldn't identify the problem. I know we need to get the Gateway replaced (it's a PACE one with G-band internet and is 7 years old), but that isn't going to happen anytime soon. Any other suggestions I could try?

I'm curious as to why the gateway can't be replaced. It's a free replacement and it's as easy as mailing it out and then you taking the old one to a UPS or FedEx location. It won't cost you a thing.

If you're worried about changing passwords on devices, there's a way to change the network name and password to something easy to remember such as "MyHomeWiFi" and the password of "GoodHome1234."

Because my parents think you'll charge for doing so and raise the bill even further. COVID doesn't help either. We're all on the higher risk category. I've been bugging them for years to get it replaced. Again, this is all frustrating.

Are they aware that AT&T gives long-term promotions if people politely threaten to cancel?

If you're not in a promotion, have them call in and ask for one. This would then off-set the cost of any fees for replacing equipment, which, as you know, don't exist.

The only time they do charge for visits is if it's the customer's fault...something like a loose wire or "the remote didn't work because the batteries needed to be replaced."

I've had numerous wires replaced and I haven't even had a fee for technicians climbing poles, running wires to my house and even going into crawl spaces and basements.

Not all channels are viewable for the ones you're subscribed to this website.  Look carefully to what that channel says for viewing or no longer, in your PC and so forth.
