Loss of signal

My U-Verse goes out every night between 11pm and 2am.  Sometimes just for a few minutes and other times for half hour or longer.

Does anyone else experience these outages?

Thank you!

We can help you with your intermittent connection, Agivens3939.

Restarting your gateway is a good way to refresh and stabilize your U-verse service.

  • Unplug the power connection behind the gateway for ~15 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and wait for the Broadband light to turn green.

We also recommend using the Troubleshoot & Resolve Tool on U-verse TV to run diagnostics:

  1. Press Menu on the U-verse Remote Control.
  2. Scroll down to Help, then press OK.
  3. Select Information.
  4. Scroll to Troubleshoot & Resolve, then press OK.
  5. Select the service you want to troubleshoot and allow the interactive diagnostic test to run and complete.
  6. Follow the onscreen instructions to resolve. Other options may include dispatching a technician or speaking to a Customer Care agent.

Let us know if this helped or if you need further assistance.

My U-Verse was just like yours, having a similar habit of going out periodically. We just put up with it over the years.

We had the new internet fiber optic cable installed three weeks ago. I do not know how it happened, but in addition to having a much faster internet, we no longer have interruptions in our U-Verse signal. In addition, it seems that the quality of our U-Verse telivision signal has improved.

Has anyone else experienced the same results that I have had?

If resetting doesn't work, I'd highly suggest getting ethernet from the gateway to all wired receivers.

If you switch to another provider, you'll almost certainly have the same issues.

Every night at 2:00 am on the dot our service goes out. Sometimes for 30 minutes and other times for hours. Then, Thursday morning came and our U-verse and internet service was out at 6:00 am and has never been restored. The problem with ATT is no one provides updates on what is being done to restore service and every estimate I have seen like (hope to have this fixed by 1:00 pm or in 24 hours) comes and goes with no results or updates. I have driven the neighborhood and cannot locate a single ATT repair vehicle working on the issue so again, very poor service and communication from ATT. I’m about done also.

Hi there, @Jackharr! We understand the importance of having a working Internet connection and want to help figure this out.

First, check our Outage tool to see if you are currently part of an outage.

If you don't see any service interruptions, we recommend rebooting your gateway. This can help to refresh your connection. Here's how to perform the reboot manually:

  1. Unplug the power cord from the back of your gateway or modem. If you have:
    • An internal battery backup, remove it
    • DSL, unplug the phone cord from your modem or gateway
  2. Wait 20 seconds.
  3. Put the internal battery back in if you have one.
  4. Plug the power cord back in. If you have DSL service, reconnect the phone cord.
  5. Wait for the gateway or modem to restart and your Broadband light to turn solid green. This can take up to 10 minutes.

If that doesn't work, we may need to meet in a Direct Message to dig a little deeper into what's going on with your connection.

@Jackharr -- It seems weird, but does anything else turn on or off at that time? It's been reported that interference from other electronic devices can cause issues with AT&T equipment.
