how to watch US open tennis
I recently switched from direct tv to u-verse. I have an equivalent plan--similar cost and number of channels, BUT with DIrect TV I could watch several matches per day during the 2 weeks of a grand slam tennis tournament. With my u-verse, there is not one match on all day after 10 this morning! On uverse, CBS sports channel is blacked out, even though with Direct TV I didn't have to pay extra to have it.
Do I need to go back to Direct TV just to have a decent availability of big-time tennis matches?
Btw, if there were matches on the CBS network, they were unavailable in San Diego in favor of infomercials all day such as miracle wrinkle remover. All the more reason there need to be alternate channels for the US open.

I see lots of them on the ESPNs. 😉

Yesterday's matches were on CBS and the CBS sports network. If your local CBS affiliate didn't air the matches, you should contact it to complain.
CBS sports network is available in the U300 and U450 packages or can be added with the sports package. If US Open Tennis is important to you, you should upgrade for a month during the tournament (there's usually a promotion so you don't have to pay much/any more) then downgrade later.
Here the US Open TV Schedule: http://www.usopen.org/en_US/about/tv_us.html?promo=subnav

Thanks Chris, you're right--during the week. But CBS has the rights on the weekend, I guess, so I"m left out.

Yes MicCheck, I was naive. Since I'm at the equivalent level btwn uverse and directv, I figured i'd be getting equivalent level sports programming. Thanks for the link to the US open site, now I see I'm almost completely out of luck since there's almost nothing on the network, and that I need to upgrade to get what I had with directv with no upgrade.
Thanks for the recommendation to upgrade then downgrade. Except, it being the weekend, ATT is closed. I tried upgrading on line but a message said that because I was a directv customer within the last 24 months I wasn't eligible.

Every provider has different channel lineups with different channels in various packages. There's no such thing as "equivalent levels".I'm not sure why the Uverse website wouldn't let you upgrade because of your DirectTV history. Are you sure you were in the right place? You can also upgrade your TV package on your TV: http://www.att.com/esupport/article.jsp?sid=KB408291&cv=803#fbid=401mRZjIUZx
I think you may have misread the schedule. Other than the round of 16 matches today, there is no more coverage on the CBS sport network. There are matches on CBS today, then on ESPN/ESPN2 all day the rest of the week, until the late round matches move back to CBS next weekend. There are some on the Tennis channel that won't be available on your current package, though.
