The latest version of the FireOS for the 7th Gen tablets is 5.6.9.0, which is forked from Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. The current version of the U-verse App requires a newer version of Android than that, IIRC, it required Android 9 or later, which in turn means nothing earlier than FireOS 7, which is available on Gen 10 and later Fire Tablets.
If you got an earlier APK that would run on the earlier tablets, when it connects to the servers you will be told that you need to upgrade and it won't function.
