help with knowing what uverse box I return with canceling att tv uverse
I have had att tv and internet for years. I have a tv box--black and an internet box--silver. This equipment is at least 15 years old. When I unpluged the tv box to return my tv box internet went out even though I did nothing to internet box. Do I need to get an updated interent box in order to keep getting my internet?

Because Uverse is being phased out, other customers have reported that they were informed that the boxes didn't have to be returned.
Did you get return instructions (email) when you cancelled?

Hold on. IIRC, the original gateways att used had silver on them. Does it have 3800 stamped on it somewhere? If yes, you do need that box or something much more up to date to have working internet.
The actual U-verse TV boxes should be returned to UPS if you’re not keeping that service.

That is a settop box. And you’re saying your internet went out when you unplugged this box?

I'm guessing then there's something plugged into the Ethernet port in the back of the set-top box? If yes, that's an unusual setup. Did AT&T do that for you originally?
