Freezing and skipping programs

Our TV that is connected to the DVR receiver, which receives a signal through a cable line has been terrible lately. Everything recorded is pixelated and skips/freezes frequently. Signal through wireless receivers is just fine.

Step one. Make sure ALL connections are tight...not just into the DVR, but into the wall, any into the modem and anywhere else there is a wire connection.

Also: Have you rebooted lately?

Unplug it from the power. Wait 30 seconds. Plug it back in.

If that doesn't work try this:

Unplug all boxes.

Plug the gateway (modem) back in.

Wait for normal operations.

Plug the DVR back in.

Wait for normal operations.

Plug the other receivers back in.

Thank you for the suggestions. Already tried these, then contacted tech support. Our DVR couldn't seem to finish the software update and he determined we might need a new one. Finally, I unplugged it for over an hour and replaced the coaxial cable from gateway to our house (the last wire I tried changing, of course), turned everything back on and the update was able to install. Working now. (Alternative wired receiver was having the same picture issues prior, so I'm pretty sure the new cable did the trick.)

If the cable to the DVR is bad (or the ends aren't tightly connected on a coax installation), then you're going to have all sorts of issues.  Glad you got that sorted!
