Fees for wireless receiver for a second TV?
When I signed up for ATT U-Verse, I received two wireless receivers even though I only had one TV. I took the second receiver in case I ever wanted a second TV in my small apartment. I am thinking of having a second TV in another room and cast my live-streamed exercise classes to the second TV. Will there be an additional monthly fee if I use the second receiver? If I have to pay an extra monthly fee, I’ll forget about the second TV and just keep using my iPad for the classes. Thanks.

I'm confused when you say you have 2 wireless receivers and only one TV. You should have a DVR receiver, which would normally be connected to your single TV, which would leave you with two unused wireless receivers. You should also have a WAP (Wireless Access Point) which would provide service for the Wireless Receivers.
I would check your bill and see how many receivers you are being billed for.

You would only encounter charges if you activated the Wireless U-verse TV Receiver to watch U-verse TV. You could have 10 TVs, as long as they're not connected to an activated AT&T U-verse TV Receiver, there will not be any charge. What it sounds like you will be doing will not require the U-verse TV receiver.

We're here to help with your U-verse questions, @Em_B.
As @baseballisback and @JefferMC suggested, you will only be billed if you activate and use the second receiver. If all you will be doing is casting zoom onto the second TV, then this will not apply.
Let us know if this helps or if you have more questions.

Depending on the age and apps available on the older smart TV, you may be better off acquiring a streaming device, such as a FireTV stick or Chromecast, connected to the TV via HDMI, to take care of your streaming needs.
In either case, you will have to set it up as you would your phone, providing it the SSID and passphrase of the Wi-FI on the Gateway.

Thanks for your response. I checked my bill. I have ATT U-verse TV U200 all included and Internet 50. There is a Broadcast TV fee, Regulatory Video Cost Recovery Fee and local taxes on my bill under TV plus the Internet charge, but no charge for a receiver. When I selected this plan in May 2017, the two receivers were free as part of an introductory plan. I was told using the first was free, but if I set up the second one, there would be an added monthly fee and that ATT would know if I set the second receiver up.
My husband and I live in a small two bedroom apartment. He uses one bedroom as a studio for his art hobby. Right now the only TV is a Smart TV in his studio and he primarily watches local stations, news channels, and sports. He has a desktop PC and an iPad he uses for research and his art work. I set up his TV for casting and can cast from one of my devices to his TV, but he has no interest in casting from his iPad.
I have no interest in watching TV. I have a PC (Dell) laptop, an iPad, and an iPhone for my computer work. I get any information I need from those devices. We are outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy spending time outdoors rather than indoors watching TV, movies, etc.
Recently, I joined an online exercise group that offers On Demand videos and live classes with ZOOM. The organizers of the group have been using Sutra for a short time and everyone is still learning this system. There are live Playback Parties where each participant brings up an On Demand video and we exercise together with ZOOM. Some members cast the videos to Smart TVs with I think split screens. I’m doing this with an iPad and a laptop. I would like to use the second receiver for a second TV to cast the way some are doing. However, I can’t afford any extra charges on my bill. It is high enough now. I also don’t want to exercise in my husband’s studio because it’s too small and crowded already. If I use another TV, it will be set up in our living room and I’ll figure out what some others are doing or ask for their help.
Finally, in my apartment complex, we can only have either ATT or Spectrum for TV and Internet.
I hope this explains my situation. I’m the geeky one who tries to figure this stuff out and asks for help when I can’t. Any advice or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

If you don't watch TV a whole lot, you may want to get a streaming device. You can use the streaming device with the various apps and not pay anything extra.
If you wish to pause/rewind live TV, you can't do that with an app.
But it would get you out of the additional fee.

Thank you all for all your helpful comments today. If this is not the proper forum for my next comments/requests, please let me know.
I plan to search for and watch videos on how to do this. When I did the WiFi set up for my husband’s new Samsung, I received some help from Samsung, the store where we purchased the Smart TV and the cable company we were using at that time. With that cable company we had purchased our own router. This time I’m using the equipment AT&T provided and installed in our apartment.
In this apartment there is a tiny centrally located “technology closet” with what I believe is called a Gateway. I assume I connect the second TV to the WiFi coming from that Gateway just as I connected our iPads, laptop, etc. that use WiFi. I just need to figure out how to do it for a second TV.
This time I’m working with a little older, but seldom used Smart TV so I’m on my own, with help from this forum, of course. The TV was used occasionally for casting on another cable network with a personal router so I believe it should work with the AT&T equipment. If anyone has suggestions on how to set up a gently used Samsung Smart TV to an AT&T WiFi network or some videos on how to do it, I’d appreciate links.

I accidentally posted the following on another post I was following: I apologize to the moderators for that:
I got the Samsung TV set up so it’s a keeper. It was so easy after I read some instructions on a Belkin router site. I also watched a YouTube video on troubleshooting problems, but I didn’t need that.
I remember having more problems with setting up my husband’s new TV. Thank you so much for all your help and advice. It especially helped and gave me more confidence to learn I didn’t have to use the wireless receiver and wouldn’t have to pay an extra monthly fee. You all are awesome!

I appreciate the suggestions for streaming devices. Even though I have everything working great, this is something I am considering now. I’m always open to trying another approach to things.

It was a busy weekend, and I’m finally checking in here. The comments and suggestions I received on this forum definitely helped me to set up for casting to my TV. Thank you all, and I will be back if I need help in the future.
