DVR Erasing My Recorded Programs

I live in Ohio and this has started happening to me on recordings that were on there for a while and ones I recently recorded. This is not a space issue I have not exceeded the capacity either before or especially now that most of them have been erased. Other older threads say this has been a known issue for a couple years why is it still happening. I have rebooted everything and it's still happening as recently as yesterday. Since all the programs I cared about saving are gone now switching the DVR is not going to be an issue will that solve this?
