No problems with Uverse but you might want to ask your question about DirecTV Stream in the DIRECTV FORUM

I'm not having any issues with U-verse TV. Depending on what is causing your issues with U-verse TV, simply changing to a provider that streams over the Internet may just give you similar issues with a different provider.
You could be having issues with in-home networking, in home Wi-Fi interference, the connection between your home and the AT&T Network, or hardware issues (but since you've replaced much of that, maybe not).
If you would like to describe more about your U-verse TV issues and the specifics about troubleshooting you've done, we might be able to help you with that, often better than AT&T Support.
Keep in mind that if you drop U-verse TV, you cannot get it back.

Yeah, it sounds like an "old tv" now "it's crap" isn't a problem that switching would solve.
What's going on?

Technician was here 2 months ago and said all my wiring into house was fine. All equipment is new, all cords are new, brand new wireless receiver and picture on tv in bedroom still freezes..believe me... rebooting gateway, receivers, unplugging replugging a million times is pointless. Att said they were updating software on the receivers, didn't work...My WI Fi works perfectly on desktop in my attic office which is much further away and more isolated than the bedroom with wireless box and tv that freezes. Seriously can't take this aggravation much more.

Spoiler alert: Your receiver isn't brand new.
Did you show the tech the issue?
If your WiFi in the attic is 2.4Ghz, that could be part of the issue as it has a longer reach than 5Ghz, which is what the wireless receivers use.

Yes...I know...it distinctly said refurbished on the invoice.. but it was supposed to replace the wireless receiver that was not working..

Invoice? Why would you be invoiced for a U-verse TV receiver replacement?
Could you describe your setup in detail, including how your DVR and TV receivers are connected, especially the "bedroom" receiver that seems to be giving you the most issues?
