Continuous freezing & pixleating

This service is crap. I've been dealing with this picture freezing and pixleating for years now. I've done all the restart, unplug, replace box, etc etc etc....that everyone recommended and it continues to do this. Is it time to switch service providers?

Nice CalebP.  Except I'm having the problem here with this technology.  How are you proposing to solve this, other than unplugging the box, gateway, or replacing everything a 5th time?

Here to help with your U-Verse receivers, @Hillbilly13!

Can you let us know the last time you had your receiver(s) replaced? It's possible that your equipment could be having errors from being in use for so long.

Let us know!

Last time was maybe a year ago.  I've changed these out a number of times since I started you service.  I've never changed receivers with other cable companies and have used them for much longer.

So many people think switching will magically solve their problems when those problems could be bad wires/splitters/barrel connectors/etc.

If...and it's a mighty big if...the new company's tech is savvy enough (and really wants to) install new wires/tech, that would solve the problem, but DirecTV Stream wouldn't solve those issues.

I've learned so much by not only having techs come, but by watching them and asking questions.

I came from Cox to Att and never, ever, had these kinds of issues until I got here.  I only came from Cox because their $ were going up and ATT had better deals.  Now ATT's $ are going crazy high and for worse service.  Time to look for someone new since this service is garbage and I'm paying for it.

@Hillbilly13

We don’t always have choices but it’s good if there are two companies that can compete for your service.

On the Att side, if you move off of U-verse TV to a streaming service like directvstream, it will be up to you on how to get streaming to work, and depending on many factors it can be difficult to get reliable streams.

Uverse TV for what it is works very well over Ethernet and I would say is rock solid.  Their wireless solution can also be very good provided you can maintain a safe range.  If you’re using coax, I’d advise to get off it.

Thanks @gr8sho

Your comment about coax got me thinking. I have 3 receivers in the house. 2 are on the wifi and the primary, is on coax connected to the gateway. Can this primary receiver be run on the wifi as well? How do I set that up? It's always been on coax since ATT installed it.

The other two receivers, one works 80-90% of the time, and the other works 50% of the time (I've given up on this one).  I'm focused on the primary right now.  Any thoughts on how to connect that through the wifi?

Thanks

resetting or rebooting only cures the issue maybe 1% of the time, im with the others theres gotta be a wiring issue somewhere. open your NID on the side of the house and see if theres a coax balun in there they are notorious for failng, ive replaced at least 500 during my time as a premtech. especially in the bay are where techs gutted the balun and bypassed all the filters inside the balun i couldnt find a pictures but its a small gray box with a red and green wire coming out of 1 side and a coax connector at the other
