Let's get those channels restored, organman54!

When it comes to live TV channels, we need to look at a something.

  1. Your HDMI connection. The HDMI cord is what brings the picture and the audio to you. If the picture and the audio go out at the same time, then it would be best to try with what or ACE, @gr8sho has suggested and restart the equipment.

We also want to supplement that with an HDMI reset as well. Try these steps:

  • With both the TV and the U-Verse Receiver off, unplug the HDMI cord from the back of the receiver, and from the back of the TV. Let it sit unplugged for about 30 seconds.
  • Then swap ends, and plug the HDMI back in to both the receiver and the TV.

If the problem is still there, then we need to think about a full reset on all of the AT&T equipment, including the AT&T gateway. Here is how you reset the AT&T modem/gateway:

  • Unplug the power connection behind the gateway for 15 seconds.
  • Plug back in and wait for the broadband light to go green, this can take 2-5 minutes.

After that is restarted, then reset the receiver and the HDMI cord.

If these tips and tricks still have not solved the concern, then we might need to have a tech come and visit you for a repair. We will be more than happy to help you with that.

If you need a tech visit, please return here and we get that process started.

Thank you for posting with the AT&T Forums.

Hello, have you tried restarting your equipment?

This has been happening to me too the last couple days, always around 2pm est, but I figured it is because it's the time of year for sunspots to interrupt some channels.

Having black channels is usually an indication of a poor signal to your home, neighbourhood or even specific locations in your home. Different boxes can require different signal levels and behave differently if you have a borderline signal.
