Let's get those channels restored, organman54!
When it comes to live TV channels, we need to look at a something.
We also want to supplement that with an HDMI reset as well. Try these steps:
If the problem is still there, then we need to think about a full reset on all of the AT&T equipment, including the AT&T gateway. Here is how you reset the AT&T modem/gateway:
After that is restarted, then reset the receiver and the HDMI cord.
If these tips and tricks still have not solved the concern, then we might need to have a tech come and visit you for a repair. We will be more than happy to help you with that.

This has been happening to me too the last couple days, always around 2pm est, but I figured it is because it's the time of year for sunspots to interrupt some channels.

Having black channels is usually an indication of a poor signal to your home, neighbourhood or even specific locations in your home. Different boxes can require different signal levels and behave differently if you have a borderline signal.
