CHANNEL CHANGE ON S30 REMOTE
I cannot enter a channel number using remote. I have to use "Guide" button and then step thru lists of channels to get to channel I need. Help?

As mentioned above checking the batteries are always the first requisite question asked about remote problems.
Are you saying none of the numbers work when you press them? Do any of them look stuck down?
Could try rebooting the dvr or receiver (pull plug for 15 secs.), When in doubt, reboot!
Finally, if all is lost, you have 3 ways to replace the remote,
The att remote model numbers are the s10, s20, and s30.

My remote guide does not show channel numbers, alphabet comes up. How do I change remote? I want to look at channel numbers not enter alphabetical channel letters. I have rebooted and changed batteries. Neither worked.

My remote is ATT Direct TV The channel Guide only shows channels by letters. For instance while in guide, if I press the number 2 it shows as A&E

Refreshing the receiver did not work. I also changed batteries and that did not work. why would the Guide just automatically change from alpha and numeric channels showing to only the alpha letters showing? Any more suggestions? It's very aggravating to have to scroll to see each channel before finding the one I want!
