Cannot Log into the U-Verse App

The previous U-Verse app for watching tv on devices (iPad) has expired and is no longer operative, so I downloaded the new app. I cannot log in to watch tv, and I get an error each time, even though I’ve reset my password and my username is valid. For example, I can successfully log into my HBOMax account with my ATT username and password. My iPad is updated. I deleted and reinstalled app. No luck. Incredibly frustrating and tech support was useless.

Your standard att login can be different than the one for U-verse TV.  Check your profile on att.com.  While you’re in there, if you see an unlink accounts button, use it.

I was able to log into my account online. I see nothing in my profile to suggest a different U-verse login. I see my linked accounts but nothing suggesting to unlink

You need your Member ID, it’s different than your login. Go into your myAT&T login (preferably a web browser).

Then select your account/profile.

Now, navigate to ACCOUNT USERS. Then you should see links with steps to initiate your Member ID if you haven’t already.

I literally had to do this, this morning. Good luck.

@StanGilbertlandria

to clarify.

Everyone that signed up for Uverse TV had to choose an email address and was used to establish the member ID.   Granted this may have happened over a decade ago, nevertheless the information is present in the user profile.  These credentials should not be linked to any other AT&T email accounts.

We are here to help you with the U-verse app, Asea.

Thank you to the aces for the useful information.

We are happy that you were able to log into the app successfully.

As they stated, you will need to use your member ID to log into the app. The member ID is the email that is tied to your AT&T account when you signed up for our service.

Also, as the ace stated, this information should not be linked to any other AT&T email accounts. You can unlink them, which will help with easier navigation in the future.

Let us know if this helps.

Appreciate the responses however it still isn’t working

“As they stated, you will need to use your member ID to log into the app.”  Response. I this with my email tied to account. Did not work. The member ID is the email that is tied to your AT&T account when you signed up for our service.

“Also, as the ace stated, this information should not be linked to any other AT&T email accounts. You can unlink them, which will help with easier navigation in the future.”Response. I logged into my account. There is no “unlink” button to click on or navigate to. As far as I can tell I only have one account but your instructions don’t lead to the links that you describe.

Bottom line neither my member ID or my email that I used to set up the account work to log into the app. It shouldn’t be this difficult to get access to tv streaming on the app.

HI, Asea.

We are sorry for the inconvenience this has caused you.

Here is more information on how to find your ID. This will let you know the ID that you will need to use for the app.

After this, we suggest that you reset your password. This will resync your account and it should help you log in.

Let us know if this helps.

Further update. I “verified” both my member ID email and my email associated with the account. I found a “linked accounts” button. I only have one account linked For my ATT UVerse account. Thanks for this groups collective comments.

@Asea

Did unlinking allow you to gain access?

Thank you for asking. It does not appear to have worked.  There is only one account and nothing else to unlink.

Sorry to bother this forum but I still cannot access live tv through the AT&T app.  I have ATT U-verse and can log into my ATT account. Have tried username and email associated with account. Password is accurate. Only have one linked account. Any ideas? Do I need to login with my ATT credentials to the directv app?  Thank you for any advice.

FWIW... I was able to get the app working again on my android phone by creating a new sub-account. Don't know if it will work on iPad...

A new sub-account is a new email account. Use the new email and password to login to the app...

Login to att.com using a desktop/laptop/tablet.

Click the "Create new sub-account" link

I used a different username with the same domain as my primary account. In my case the domain is "@ sbcglobal.net" ...

Good luck and let us know if it works.... Joe

That actually worked JoeFW, thanks!  I have no idea what a sub account is for, or why that would allow me to log into the app on my iPad, but it did work. None of the other tricks seemed to do it. Thanks for the info!!

Excellent!... No one knows why different solutions work or don't.

ATT caused this problem and doesn't seem too worried about it.

A sub-account is just what it appears, an extra email account for whatever.
