Otto is wrong on this one. Bally Sports South may be available, but per team/league policy, the games would be blacked out.
Here's what @eviltwin2_ needs to do:
Sign up with ESPN+. It's an app/website available via any number of streaming devices.
This will show *all* Predators games *except* those on national TV such as TNT/ESPN or the ones vs Tampa Bay. Any games vs Tampa Bay must be seen on the Tampa Bay channel. If you don't get this channel, you're basically out of luck.
I'm in the Pirates and Penguins territory, yet I don't get that channel. Such is not uncommon.
I’ve hidden all the additional subscription channels in the 1700 range, but I do see that U-verse still carries many different regional sports stations. Can’t the OP just subscribe to the one appropriate for his or her team?
Anyone should get their RSN(s) in U-200. For me, it's two feeds of BSO (1732 and 1734) and BSGL (1735).
If I want just one other, I'd have to subscribe to the HD Premium Pack. However, live pro games and many of the rebroadcasts are blacked out. On rare occasion, there will be one not blacked out, but these are oversights and very rare.
For a while, NHL rebroadcasts weren't blacked out. I'm not sure if they are now. I know someone who used to work nights. He didn't subscribe to the league package, but the out-of-market channel package for his provider. He'd watch his team's NHL games on the next-day replay. He paid a lot less for this than he would have for Center Ice.
I wasn’t thinking that was the point. Paying extra for another region would allow me to watch the team I root for. I live in Florida but want to watch my Nashville team. Isn’t that the point of U-verse TV offering these additional subscription channels? Correct me if I’m wrong, please.
You can pay extra for an out-of-market RSN, but that doesn't change the blackout rules. You'll just get the out-of-market feed that doesn't include live games that are blacked out. You might get replays. You do get the filler content, of which the pregame or post game might have some value.
If you're a diehard fan of a far-off team, you may want the pregame, post-game and coaches/call-in shows. Someone I know used to watch the pregame/post-game on the actual channel, but he'd have to flip to the pro package to watch the game.
I've heard that some providers allow the games to be shown on the RSN channel *if* the appropriate package is bought. For example, a Red Sox fan living in LA wouldn't have to turn to the Extra Innings channel if both Extra Innings and the DirecTV sports pack were purchased.
These PPV packages are really so that the leagues can make more money by selling games direct to customers. Of course, the local games are blacked out on things like ESPN+ or NBA League Pass. This is so that the channels can push their commercials into more households (it also makes the team more valuable when they negotiate to air games on certain channels.)
The true time-filler is all garbage...if someone gets 19 of those channels, 15 of them may be showing the same poker show at the same time. Several years ago when Fox had European soccer games, some games were shown on the channels then known as Fox Sports regional. The same game was on several channels without blackouts. Someone watching on a channel not their own may be a few seconds ahead, maybe without a channel logo and possibly better sound.
This is part of the reason why streaming services don't have the RSNs. People watch the live games, but nobody watches the poker/fishing stuff. Many years ago, there were actual national shows on those channels, but they're all gone.
Anyway, companies like Sinclair want money based off how many people watch the live games. The streamers want to figure in the average viewers of ALL the shows...live games may only be 3-4 hours per night and 4-6 nights per week.
Personally I’ve never paid for an extra channel and I’m not an authority on the topic. My posts were made assuming that if I paid for that New England channel I would see exactly what everyone sees that lives in Boston on their cable service.
In any case @EvilTwin2_ have you subscribed to the appropriate RSN channel so you can watch you team? Just curious.
